Mirin’ negotiating skills, lol. Why would you turn down the raise? If they won’t budge on more than 8%, you take the 8% and start looking for a new job. You play hardball when you actually have other options lined up in case it fails.

Now you’re doing the same exact work but for less money and look like a cucked retard if you don’t quit or get a raise.

I agree with this. You pretty much have to put in a notice now or else you'll be a massive cuck. Maybe they will respond by offering a bigger raise, and if not then you leave and find a better job. And yeah a month would give you more time to find a good job

inflation is really more like 16%. 8% raise is less. But its all relative.

We get to all suffer from commie gov policies.

This is the most important information itt.

This is your supervisor's fault. You need to make damn sure that HR knows the disparity between the initial and the offering. You weren't insulted and sharp raises of 24% should be title promotions. I'm sure there are multiple bands you could have been placed in to get to the number he suggested.

Your counter should be a job title assessment and promotion.

You are not being weak by now accepting an 8k rise.

Plus the rise should help you get more money when you leave.

Quitting now is just dumb. You might end up with a job paying less…and how will you explain why you left? And do you think any new employer will be concerned if you tell them why (here is an unsubtle clue: they will be).
Inflation this year was 8.5%. So them offering him an 8% raise is like offering him a pay cut which is a huge slap in the face

I got a 5.5% raise in January and I had similar complaints but they just did an auto adjustment.

I applied for an internal management role and didn't get it.

I also talked to another company for six weeks for a technical sales role. I recently accepted and it's a 50% bump in my base pay which essentially is what I'd make in my current role if you factor in bonuses and stock equity.

I'm sure there are roles out there that will pay more competitively for your skill set. I'd urge you to look.

Your manager didn’t put in for a 24% raise. You also should have accepted the raise since you’re still working there. Declining and staying on board is stupid. I’m pretty sure 99% of companies give out standard 2-5% raises unless your top tier talent. Even with inflation. Meanwhile, they are hiring and probably paying new people even higher. So you either get a promotion, change departments (sometimes this guarantees a raise if they run some kind of pay rate advisor) or just get a new job.

8% is far more than anyone could ask for in a position in this given time. Like you said most people are getting 2 - 3%.

OP did you just reject it based on principals or something?!

About 2 weeks ago my Manager told me he wanted to put in for a 24% raise for me, I said, chit that's awesome......just got word from HR that they approved it for 8%....$8,150 more/year.

I declined it stating basically what I said above (in a more corporate way) and also sited that inflation this year is over 8% and told them that their offering was both insulting and unacceptable.

They wont negotiate or come back with something else.

Wut do now......?

24% is pretty insane.

Bring in your the dude that harasses your wife at the gym and beat the **** out of him in front of your boss.

Then tell him you're doing the same to your boss if you don't get your 24%.

Never heard of a 24% raise unless you're getting promoted. I don't buy this story at all.

I know you must be upset, but keep your cool and do what's in your best interests. It sounds like that might be just looking for a new position. Don't be rash and quit on the spot. That probably won't help you. Get your resume and references ready and start looking for something new. Good luck.
