Getting straight roasted. Thanks boyos I need this. I don't really do much track stuff for now, so I imagine shaving some seconds is doable over the course of the next few months. I had a few seconds left in me for that lap. Will update in the upcoming weeks

No that’s awful. 55 seconds for a non 400m runner would be good imo

Without knowing anything else, if you work on opening your stride you can shave quite a bit off that time. Sprinting technique is primarily about optimizing stride length, then you can increase explosiveness through training. Hope to see you come back in a few weeks at sub 60.

I picked up running about 1.5 years ago. It started off as just trying to run a 5k for 3 months as fast as possible then I learned how to train for more distancy kind of things. I'd imagine I can hit a sub 20 5k at this point. Just haven't tried recently. Thanks the tips on the 400. Gonna use them.

As the link i sent showed age/weight and training is a factor, you will get faster as you adjust all.

I'd say the mark you want to try to break as a normal person would be under a minute

Whether it's good or not really just depends on what you're using for comparison. If we took 10 random miscers, I'd put good money on you finishing in the top 2 or 3, so in that sense, it's not bad. There are some really good athletes on here, but most of us are well past prime for running. In high school I didn't do many 400 open races because I focused on the 300m hurdles. I was capable of running in the 51-53 range consistently for the 400, which is pretty fast compared to the average high schooler, but just ok for a competitive high school track athlete. Anybody who can get in the 48-50 range in high school is a stud runner.

While it would be "slow" for a competitive track athlete, I think running a 400 in 60 seconds demonstrates a really good level of physical fitness.

thanks mane. I figured this would be a good spot to ask. There are some e-statters for sure, but there are definitely some studs.

Gonna make the misc proud here. Going for sub 60.

Somewhat related to OP's topic--very neat video whether you're a runner or not.
