All it does it raise costs on everything to cover the wage costs to the company, it edged companies closer to automating and because of raising costs, the exact same people who just got a pay rise are back to where they started except now everyone else has to pay more for their sht.

Australia's minimum wage is 20. The US minimum wage is 7.25. Huge difference

Simplistic view. Companies can innovate and find efficiencies, cut executive compensation, cut profits. Not saying the latter are good things. But it's misleading to say the only reponse a company can have to higher labor costs is an increase in product prices.
