Why do people insist on increasing minimum wage when it only causes harm?

Like wtf. We just had an election in aus and he won a promise of raising minimum wage by 5%

Australia's minimum wage is already like $20.

All it does it raise costs on everything to cover the wage costs to the company, it edged companies closer to automating and because of raising costs, the exact same people who just got a pay rise are back to where they started except now everyone else has to pay more for their sht.

easy way out for the poorcels, that way they can keep a dead end job and make ends meet, once inflation catches up they will ask for a higher minimum wage.

US min wage is like 7.25.

In 2022, thats ridiculously low.

That being said, most jobs pay above minimum wage by a fairly significant amt. You can easily work fast food making 10-15.

Should give professionally accredited jobs abilities to give people professional competencey degrees, pay them half minimum for a year or two with a guaranteed salary increase and professional credential at the end of apprenticeship.

I don't disagree with the theory and once would have sided with this argument, but my mind is more aware as to how widely the free market is distorted.

This is reactionary to inflation. No, it doesn’t help, but people are desperate. The economy is ALWAYS reactionary to government interference. Same thing happened just before the Great Depression. We are following the same exact path, but it can’t be helped when the fed interferes.

Keep in mind, the Great Depression was the result of a revolution too. Politicians become obsessed and power hungry over this stuff. Its like playing God. This is why we should never tolerate this.

We need to revoke trading licenses for breaking SEC laws

We need to have fines that are more expensive than profits gained from breaking the law

We need to send decision makers for corporations who break major laws to jail


Then we can talk about getting rid of economic protections.

The free market decides what a person's labor is worth right? Yep ask the economists. If your skill is in high demand, employers will offer you more, or less if not. Supply vs Demand.

Oh well that's really great if you're an employer, if you don't like those pesky workers pricing their in-demand labor higher, you can ask the government, directly because you're a big employer (fudge that democracy BS), to create new visas and entry channels because you are hurt by a 'skills shortage' - which is to say, you can't find the people you want at the minimum wage.
