Never hear anyone say that tbh.
When you’re an adult, you’re either successful in your field or you’re not. Nothing else really matters.

If you're more than 1 year removed from college and still cling onto it like it matters you probably need to grow up. All that matters is what you know, not where you learned it from.

Degree was in robotics and AI. Some very smart kids in class.
That said, they’re pretty dumb in other ways. Kinda like the characters from Big Bang theory.
When hiring, college/Uni is a good filter for finding out which candidates are resourceful enough and have common sense.
Brain is muscle, need to train it, at least college students (in harder courses) have spent a few more years training their brain.
If you’ve spent those 3 years stacking shelves or laying bricks instead, the experience isn’t quite the same. The way you articulate yourself isn’t quite the same either (you are the 5 people you spend the most time with, in other words, your environment).
However, people with no college degree but are self taught, started their own business etc. are probably way sharper than your average college student. There’s a difference between taking carefully laid out courses with a lot of hand holding vs say starting a business and figuring out, essentially, how to game the economics of the world (leveraging labour for time, time for money, marketing and sales, taxes etc.).
I don’t think there’s much difference in natural intelligence between college educated and not, just that the former had more training.
This only applies to real degrees. Art degrees lol.

Every person who says this is in a fake major. Anyone in a real major doesn't need to try to convince people that they are intelligent lmao.

99% of the times, having a college degree is not related to your IQ. It just indicates a level of proeficiency in something and shows that you are a person capable of commiting to something for 3-4 years and handle useless work while dealing with all the types of people.
Plenty of jobs out there that do not require a college degree and, at the same time, require an above average IQ and are paid well above average, like, for example, Software Developers/Software Engineers (average IQ 110) or Airline Pilots (average IQ 120).
On the other hand, you have a lot of jobs that require (legally) a college degree and are full of idiots (just look to a lot of elementary to HS teachers).
Determining someones IQ based on what their major is is also dumb. If you say that the average Physics student is smarter than the average Physical Education student... it would be legit. But if you say the student X is dumber than a Physics student just because he is a Physical Education student... then you are the dumb one. Same for business, or arts, or nutrition or biology or anything else.
I have a BSc in Exercise Science (I believe it is similar to Kinesiology) and you would be surprised. Thats a science heavy program (Physiology, Biochemistry, Biomechanics, Neuroscience, Traumatology, Psychophysiology, ...).

i disagree
someone who was a very good student in philosophy probably is better at arguing on topics about philosophy or involving things philosophy related like existentialism or spiritualism than 99.99% of the population including the misc. But miscers have inflated egos behind their misc profile so they like to think their intelligence is greater than most of the misc, but that doesn't make any sense if all miscers think that way but they do.

Do you guys think in calc II there are examples about gay marriage or something?
Also college is more than the classroom. My hometown was 99.9% white upper middle class. I never even met an Arab person before college. My roommate was a super rich black guy. Was very eye opening his life experiences. Now I’m back in a white city and I honestly couldn’t even tell you the last time I even saw an Asian person. Been months.

If someone invested all that time and money into some stupid degree, I right away lose respect for them.
Like in all of that time they never thought to look to see the job potential? Its crazy. Its like the internet ceases to somehow exist when people get that college mindset. Its not like you just show up for class one day. There is some paperwork and hoops to jump through so plenty of opportunity to do some simple research.
Also the same with people buying cars. Sold them for a couple years and 90% of the customers did not do the simple math to roughly estimate their monthly payments. Like calculators somehow didnt exist to them. Not lik ethey need an accounting degree to just diving the price by 60 or 72. Takes like 30 seconds and that includes locating the calculator.

Want an example? Admiral William H. McRaven has a degree in ...Journalism. Then he became a Navy Officer (Navy Seals) and the commander of the United States Special Operations Command.
A lot of intelligent people with degrees in Business aswell, for example.
Chesley Sullenberger (Ex-Airline pilot, Safety consultant for the National Transportation Safety Board and Permanent Representative/Ambassor of the United States to the International Civil Aviation Organization) has a Bachelor Degree in ... Industrial Psychology.
My degree has nothing (almost nothing) to do with what I do today. Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Sports (it is Exercise Physiology.... not playing sports), but I work as an Airline Pilot (obviously had to do years of pilot training aswell). If I didn't have the Bachelor, I wouldn't have the job that I have today (company only hires people with Bachelor degrees), so it served a purpose. But I spent 8k total with my Bachelor... so it is probably a little different.
But it is extremely common.

I've ran into a few people and the ones that always pull this are the Humanities majors.
The biggest one I know is an English Major that thought he could be succesfull in ANY major because he had an 3.8 gpa in english undergrad. Loves to quote his ****ty "classes/papers" so he's right even though it's just a theory and your opinion is invalidated.
I have a degree in CS and I'm a ****ing idiot, I just know my field and topics that interest me. Having my degree just meant I was willing to put more time into studying than others, it doesn't mean I'm smarter.

I can't even understand why somebody would put effort in making sure others know they are smarter than them. As long as you are smart enough to do everything you wanna do... thats what matters. Same with money. Other than that, you (people who do this) are just trying to try to feel better because you have a degree and others don't ...Or because you have a degree in X and others have a degree in Y. Thats a self-esteem problem.
Wanna prove you are smart? Get into mensa ffs.
Confident and happy ppl don't even think about it.

Have a law degree and went to school with a bunch of stupid fuks.
Had students in a top ranked masters program taking joint classes with us, they had impressive resumes, but were even bigger morons save for the army colonel in that program using dat dere GI bill.
It’s what you do vs actually getting the degree

People who are willing and able to learn who value knowledge are more likely to go to college. Some really smart people don't know what they want to do so they take something general and then afterwards they figure it out for themselves. Reality is they probably would have been successful otherwise however you need that to be an officer in the military.
I have had some college. I tested high and could have gone to a lot of major universities but my grades in HS sucked because I just didn't do the course work. Sometimes I would turn in test incomplete. Answer wrong on purpose when I didn't think they mattered. When I went to a small college I Took the classes I needed and didn't take the rest. I was supposed to have a minor with Automotive Technology as my major. They actually had the program at the time. Anyways I've worked my way up to a lead tech - shop foreman. Probably will just be a foreman soon but my skills they want to keep me on a diagnostic role. I don't really do much mechanical work anymore. So I see both sides of the coin. A lot of guys in the field, they aren't stupid and are good at fixing cars, but in no way do you wan them talking to customers, doing reports, taking to engineering, or any of the like. When engineers come in I work with them. I've talked about it to them and they say most techs just want them to tell them what to do then argue about it. I will explain my process and what I did and that helps them figure out a solution they are looking for and we work together. I'm now on a pilot program with a company doing Augmented Reality along with other communication devices where I will use it in the real world and give them constructive feedback. The other mechanics are like "aww man that's just more bullchit they are trying to get us to do" and have theories that they are trying to replace us with AI. "I just want to make my money and go home". A lot of people with no education cannot see beyond their own face, they can't imagine anything beyond their own circle. They think that they know everything, everyone else is stupid, books are bs, book learning is for nerds. That's how a lot of tradesmen are. However it's not all of them and not limited to tradesmen, as a lot of college grads fall into the same place. They think because they have a degree they know everything. In the reality is we all have a lot to learn. The more I learn the more I know I don't know.
