The hebrew tutor and her 'muh antisemitism' rage was funny. As mentioned fake snow, personal bar, and adult baby were funny too. I also find small details funny, such as how the rehearsal version of the kid's mom and Nathan, when playing the mom, both had the red and black hand tattoo.

My best guess of what happened was that the pilot was the concept, but they actually had a hard time finding ppl like that guy in the pilot to actually go through with the whole thing -- probably had lots of dropouts. So they salvaged it (they had to, given the insane budget) with the weird pretend daddy story.
if it were all episodes like that guy with the master degree and the one with the inheritance it would've become pretty repetitive imo
(I wasn't exactly sold after the first episode, when the bigger picture started to unfold I was on board)
