Doesn’t matter how many people are in the house. You need an expansion tank if there’s a check valve on your water entry into the house. Which there should be.

It's the middle of the road in terms of labor cost. I had to go with this tradie because they are Rheem certified and have a contract with them.

I bought a house on well water, and it needed a whole new water filtration system. Got quoted $9500. Did that shyt myself for $1500 in parts. Had the water tested and though the well was contaminated, the indoor water was clean.

Just replaced mine a few months back. The ball valve on the water inlet for the shutoff broke so had to plumb a new one and added an expansion tank. The T&P valve on the old tank also ran up (lol wut) so i just ran this one up too.

The $300 or whatever op paid for the job isn't really too bad. I still had to take multiple trips to the hardware store, buy a few tools and head to the dump. Now I have some new tools though and I can replace someones water heater for $400 if they need me to lol.
