I'm 53 but extremely healthy so I don't think about it that often. I do try to do the things I enjoy and live life to the fullest.

Eat right and workout boyette.

I believe you can really extend those meaningful years.

This.

I mean, 'making the most of life' - sometimes to me means, taking an entire weekend at a spa. Going to get a massage, following that up with a nice dinner out. Sometimes it means meditating for hours on a weekend to center myself again.

I think "making the most of life" isintentionalas an approach, rather than result-based. A long call with an old friend; catching up with family. There are so many 'ingredients' to a fulfilling life, and I think I'm guilty of losing sight of that at times with career obligations, etc.

I also do realize the human condition: that we are infinitely small, and rather irrelevant in an apathetic universe. So there's always that to keep me humble

Not quite 30 yet, but feeling this. It's the realization that I'm not getting any younger and have to make the most of my time, yet can't just drop everything cuz career/money etc

What can't you do now that you wish you did more 10 years ago?

Thank OP for putting me in depression. Will be 30 within a few months and have been thinking more than I should about the time I have wasted and my dumb choices I did in my 20's.

Currently working hard to make a change so I can have the life I wanted within a few years. Also have put procrastination to the minimum and I value my time way more than before, since I realise that the next 20 years will come and go before I realise it.

Work hard and try to make a change so you can die happy. DO NOT waste your time on constantly chasing sloots, video game playing or binging TV series. It is fun but it is quick dopamine injection which burns you out and puts you in depression when you look back at how repetitive your lifestyle has been.

It’s short. You hunt a lot, so you probably have more exposure to it than most people. I killed a farmed trout that was stocked in our river for the specific purpose of recreational fishing, and I felt it when serving the fish to my kids. Life isn’t something to take lightly.

Losing important people in your life teaches it more quickly, and with more impact. Most of the things we complain about are inconveniences of people who live easy lives.

I've been a bit obsessed about the notion of time for about as long as I can remember. What did occur to me recently though is the importance of having a very clear idea about where you want to be in life and planning accordingly. The vast majority of people (probably >95%) just kinda drift along and just end up wherever life takes them. Probably in large part due to feeling like they have all the time in the world to figure it out when they're still young. Then time starts flying, they end up with adult responsibilities and figure being a corporate wage slave is about as good as it'll get at that point.

Funny thing is deep down I've always known where I really want to be (hint: a lot closer to your type of lifestyle OP). Luckily my wife is on the same page and we plan on making it happen in the next 5 or so years one way or another cuz corporate wage cucking ain't it chief.

The animal thing is interesting.

Think about how many living things there are. Like, a million ants per living person...each one, a life, each one dying in a few months. Think of all the living things over the millennia that have lived, and died. All the people who have died.

And for what? What impact have the billions of lives have had? Are we any different than other living things?

Don't think too far into it. Pure rope fuel, srs.

There is no unified meaning to life. Only what we each believe to be true.

While there may be no purpose we can prove, life is at the same time, wonderful, incredible and like you say, not to be taken lightly.

What is extremely healthy? Describe your cardio routine, lifting routine, diet, stress relieving activities, etc. I’m calling you out on embellishing your actual life style.

My opa lived on his own till 94.

Then hospital, and passed quickly.

Literal pack a day smoker, white bread, and cheese...Dutch chocolate sprinkles...Oma would fry everything in butter...lol.

I'll be the guy shooting pigeons out his window of the home with a bb gun and cooking them on a pine cone fire on the concrete balcony floor. (Already thought this through lol)

I walk 30 min 5 or so days a week. Lift 3 days a week. Full body at gym on Sundays, leg day (Wed) and upper day (Fri) at home on my lunch break. Every weeknight I also stretch and do abs.

Every weekday I do OMAD and eat 12 oz shredded chicken with a little BBQ sauce, baked yams, roasted green beans and carrots with 2 Tbsp Grapeseed oil on them, 8 oz homemade bone broth with beef gelatin in it. Wed and Friday I drink 8 oz orange juice about an hour before lifting.
Today cals 1,317, carbs 107, fat 50, protein 128, sugar 46.

Stress relieving activities are lifting, cardio and reading. I try to get 7-8 hours of sleep every night but I have insomnia so don't always. I've been using a meditation app at bedtime recently and it's been helping a little.

I don't do drugs, rarely drink. Now tell me what I'm embellishing?

You absolutely live a healthy lifestyle, but survey says “extremely” is an exaggeration. 30 minute walk 5 days a week is hardly cardio, stop the cap. Diet seems to be lacking in servings of vegetables, definitely in variety. You’re welcome and are free to use this criticism to make adjustments. To recap: walk everyday for 1 hour, do actual cardio 3-5x a week and up your vegetable intake and variety. Only then will your lifestyle be “extremely” healthy, as of right now it is just healthy. Everything else is top notch tho, good job.

I don’t worry about it or stress about most things these days

You realize that everything eventually washes away….. even the Earth will be gone at some point…..day to day chit doesn’t even matter

Experiences and fulfillment are all I strive for…… love the family I’ve built with my wife, love nature, love good food/sex, love accomplishing goals, appreciate my health while I got it….. it’s worth more than money

Most of my philosophy is constantly pushing to learn new things, absorb, experience, improve, and set up for future generations. And take care of myself so I can do all of that for as long as possible and contribute as much as possible before kicking the bucket.

Also banking on being able to cure mortality or otherwise develop technology to preserve our consciousness within the next like 50 years or so.

It's 1 C baked yams, 1 C green beans and 200g carrots. The 30 min walk is a fast paced cardio walk. I also walk my dog 3x a day which includes going up and down 3+ flights of stairs each time as I'm on 3rd floor and there is another flight of steps out back to get up here. Those walks total about another 30 or so minutes but I don't count it as cardio as he stops and sniffs frequently. I work full time so fitting in a separate 1 hour walk on top of everything else I do in a day is not going to happen.

Anti aging pills that slow down the cells aging process and perhaps even reverses will happen one day and humans will live a lot longer than 70-80

Recently I've been thinking about missed opportunities.... I'm 34, so I'll probably not have kids at this point, but will I regret that later? I really don't know. Also haven't been able to see my nephews grow up because I live on the other side of the country so that kinda sucks ass.

It seems like time is ripping past and I'm just skipping by like a retard. Makes me anxious to think about it.

I'd like to think that this is the truth. Hopefully the energy associated with our conscious moves on to another life or energy type. No hippy.

Time is very short. Both in the short and long term. I can't believe I've been out of college for over 5 years. Feels like 3 max. The other day I was hanging out with family for 4-5 hours. I was dreading it in some ways tbh. And it just flew on by, like ultra fast forward, and it wasn't even THAT entertaining either. Put on a 2-3 hours movie on the side while you're multi-tasking and the ending credits roll up when you feel like the climax should still be far away.

I went on a 7 days cruise and it honestly felt like I might as well have smoked weed for a blurry hazy day, that's how fast it felt in comparison.

All that to say, time is relative. Turn off the technology. Do stuff you don't want to do all the time with zero entertainment involved, just focused on the objective/task, and time will hopefully normalize at least for those moments. Having more of such moments in your life will naturally cause time to feel slower in your life perhaps. Constant stimulation and entertainment will just reduce the significance of your moments. If every moment is feeling fun or stimulating, then all of your moments will zoom on by.

EDIT:

I think a lot of us also kinda of induce this in ourselves innately. Always looking ahead, forward thinking. "I'll be happy when X, Y, Z." Or, "If I can just get through this time span / day range I'll be happy." So you bulldoze through and then you're back to stimulation and entertainment, consuming your time away rapidly.

It's never fully sunk in for me until the past year of my life... Hitting 30 and feeling like my youth is officially over... and then my entire family dynamic being destroyed with my father having a major stroke. It's so easy to say don't take things for granted but it's a whole other ball game actually fully digesting and enacting that. But that's now 100% where I'm at and realize soon me and my fam will all be gone... I'm still having some mindless fun (risky creampies) but biggest difference is now everyday I think much more long term with all my actions and basically everything I put my time into.

Everyone feels this in the mid 30s. Its basically the mid-life crisis. Got about 30/40 more years, if you're lucky, to do what you want before your body is lost to time forever. Thank God all my family is still alive. I really feel for people that aren't so lucky. And I also think all the time about the fact that reality will inevitabely catch up to me too.

Then combine that with living somewhere that has cold snowy weather for 6 months/year and you're essentially wasting half of the life you have left. Unless you like the cold/dark/snow weather. I sure dont.
