Yes, I agree. Speaking for myself, most of the time, books are better than movies based on them.

But also I have a soft spot for those based on ones by my favorite authors.

Yup lol. I was just 4. The movie is good but of course I didn’t see the movie adaptation of 1984 until many years after it released. The sex scene was kind of hot. The ending with Winston was different than the book iirc.

That muppet movie, Wizard of Oz, and Porkys were my favorite childhood movies.

Speaking of movies based on books by Orwell and speaking of animal farm. There is a movie of it that isn’t bad but where the book is undeniably better . There is also a family friendly kids movie called animal farm but I never saw it. The one I watched was darker and I already know Is more closely related to orwells masterpiece.

1984 is a great book, Brave New World was also excellent. It seems like many in power are reading 1984 as an instruction manual rather than a warning.

Yes & a great commentator as well, also a very good Billiards player. He has just retired from the editorship of Snooker Scene which he owns after 51 years straight & other than the Covid Pandemic where it missed 2 issues due to ill health aged 85 & it being very hard to make money from magazines now, he edited every issue. Likely only Hugh Heffner has edited a magazine for the same time or longer. Used to spill all the backstage dirt like Uncle Dave when he was still a journalist rather than a Young Bucks fanboy.

I guess I should get around to reading Animal FarmI've heard about it and what it's about, but what I was previously told was it is fairly fundamental and basic.

It both made me laugh and shook me. Very similarly to Slaughterhouse V which is in my top 10 goat reads. I highly recommend both. Actually most days It is my favorite book of all time.
