You get thrown hard on your back a LOT. Probably not a good idea if you already have neck and back issues.

BJJ is good to learn some basics so nobody can submit you and rape you. You guys say it’s ghey but you’re basically asking to play the helpless “damsel in distress.”

Good luck with that.
Yea there was a guy from my college that I'd work out with sometimes and he did MMA/Bellator and he was explaining a lot of different training. Said the same thing about Judo but said it is useful to know the basics. Guess I didn't think through some of the training and landing on your back a lot.

I know a bit of wrestling and some sprawling growing up with a lot of wrestling friends, but would be useful to know how to get out of certain positions.

Really I always wanted to learn some real proper striking for self defense because you never know what can happen in the streets these days. The better I am at defending myself and others with me, the less I have to worry about whether or not I can take someone on if need be (worst case scenario). Ofcourse I'm going to be going to the range a lot too, but want all the bases covered for basic self defense.

But with BJJ…..you’re literally in the missionary position with another dude for the vast majority of it. That sh!t is too much.
But referee's position is ok right?
