Yeah for sure. I know people who have lived in America for a decade + and still don't have it. Western countries are popular so there's a ton of hoops to get citizenship. One of my aunts became Canadian and it took 6 years AFTER applying for her to finally get it.

I am obsessed with its culture, history, and current events.
My favorite food is Japanese food, with a side of sake. It’s healthy, it’s light, and I can put away 6-7 plates of sushi easy .
I took Japanese language lessons in an effort to get my visa and become a gaijin (foreign worker) and eventually become a dual citizen there.

I know a handful of white Americans who have done this and made it over there. High standards but it was only a dream for me that I failed to let leave my front door due to fear of failure.

It's a severely depressed nation of elderly and lonely autistic people. Workaholics to the extreme with an extreme negation of basic human emotions. Yes it's very pretty and neat but living there would make you depressed in a second.

It has all the worrisome demographical and societal trends that will be a huge problem for 1st world nations in this century. You could say it's ahead of the curve in that regard. Lonely and old population with severely low birthrates and an increasingly aging population mixed with large scale isolation and alienation... yikes.

in some ways yes, in some ways no. Every place has it's trade offs.

Lived there for a year. By the end of my time I was ready to come home. One thing that got to me was how clausterphobic life felt in general. Small ass living qaurters (unless you live in the country side), cramped ass trains, etc.

On the other hand people in general were great, food was amazing, promoted a healthy lifestyle in that you don't need a car so lots of walking/biking when you're not taking a train.

I remember a miscer living in Japan posted a thread once awhile back. He said the social consequences of feminism have progressed much further in Japan than America. So for all the chit miscers like to complain about regarding female hypergamy, men being treated as inconsequential worker drones supporting a system that never favors them, etc. you would think miscers wouldn't be so keen on Japan. Even the hikkikomori chit is much more advanced in Japan than American incel shut-in culture.

My dream career there would’ve totally been fun. Yunno when I used to fantasize about becoming a citizen there . But never got to bring into fruition

I also wanted to use the yen to make my loved ones back home live more comfortable
