Anyways, i used to scratch with tables back in the day. I would love to get back into it. Even if they make some kind of emulation turn table that you could scratch Mp3/Wav files.... i have no idea. I'll have to look into it. All the new technology is overwhelming. I just want a table and cross fader.

Yeah, I calculated that the original sample was an average of 76bpm and I changed it to 95bpm. As for the chord progression, I picked out the main 2 chords that run throughout the entire sample, then I added the other 2 chords on a virtual piano VSTi (Pianoteq 7) to fill in the other 2 chords that then form the chord progression. I had to somewhat process the virtual piano sound to sound more like the original sample, some high-end cutoff, some distortion and finally I accentuated the upper mids. It still sounds a little out of place, the virtual piano is much cleaner sounding than the original recording of the sample, so I did my best to dirty it up a bit, but you can still tell.

My go-to plugs for synth sounds at the moment are u-he Hive 2, Reveal Sound Spire, Synapse Audio Dune 3 and Xfer Serum. For string sounds, or any orchestral sounds, I use various libraries on NI Kontakt. The main libraries I use for strings are LA Scoring Strings and Nucleus.

It's pretty much impossible to ever truly replace a real bass guitar, there are a few Kontakt libraries that do a great job, but the best bass guitar VSTi I've ever tried is the IK Multimedia MODO Bass 2. It's not perfect, but it's as close as you're gonna get to a real bass. Check out the demos on youtube, it's really surprising how accurate it is and how many parameters you can tweak.
