Depends on the gym.

If its smells and is full of mexican guys, plan on getting your ass handed to you and working out until you are half dead. That will be the warm up.

If its nice and clean, plan on a bunch of soccer moms meaninglessly hitting the heavy bag and calling it a workout after 15 minutes.

First few sessions were boring, learning how to punch, how to guard feet stance movement etc. lots of skipping lots of cardio etc etc.

Then after that the club I’m at does a 3 minute sparring rounds then swap partner 1 minute break and back In for 3 minutes.

You will be stupidly humbled, I was sparring a 14 year old and literally couldn’t get close to hitting him while he could punch me in the face at will.

Anyone who isn’t a dick a head wil Taylor there sparring to your level. You will sweat absolute buckets as well.

Worth emphasizing that because western martial arts are often practiced by the jogging and astrophysics community and do not have the character tenants of things like humility, balance, etc. built into them the way most eastern martial arts do, there are a fairly large number of people who will use your face for target practice just because they can at the beginning.

It's boxing though, so you need to learn how to take a punch. Work on your defense. It's good to keep a cool head, but sometimes you just need to unleash in the ring to get some respect too.

People have slowly sparred harder with me as i have gotten better at moving guarding etc. Honestly can’t imagine someone being enough of a dick to just wade in on someone when it’s their first few times.

The other experienced fighters should check that bs unless it is part of the culture of that gym.

In private lessons the punching bag will be instructor's ballsack and your punches will actually be your tongue.

Would be pretty pointless as people just wouldn’t come back after first sparring session, would be amazed if the teacher didn’t go Fking mental if he saw it
