Misc Boxers...Signed up for Boxing lessons...what do I expect first class?
Signed up and paid. 3 private classes a week for 2 months. I consider it a Boxing bootcamp. Absolutely stoked.
I have decent cardio(Can run 8min miles until I get bored) but from a sprint POV, its definitely not as good.
What do I expect and what can I do to make the most of this? Starts a month from now. Any boxers on the misc?

Nice brah. I always wanted to take boxing when I was younger since I’ve been a fan of the sweet science forever. Never got around to it growing up, ended up in Krav Maga instead for a little while, which was cool. But let us know how your boxing experience goes. Might inspire me to take it up now as an adult.
For advice, I know SicilianPower has been taking boxing for a long time. He mentioned training at an old school gym and getting ring time.
BrunoTheBoxer too, I think his username is srs.
In for more miscers’ advice.

First couple classes will be boring
They will show you stance, footwork..somehow you will end up drench at the end of it though..atleast I did.

They actually had a coach from their camp go pro and the dude looked awful in the ring. Can’t knock anyone for stepping up but he ended up getting KO’d by Edgar Berlanga in the first round. Not a good look for his gym lol.

I had a boxing gym for a bit, but stopped. Didn't take it serious, didn't have a sparring partner because all the adults trained mornings.

Same boat as you brah
I have a coach I’m seeing 1-2 times a week for private lessons over the past couple of months
He puts me through a 10 minute warmup of skipping, doing jumping jacks, running on the spot etc and it’s actually hard AF especially if you were a gymcel like me with no cardio
I had never thrown a punch before at 31 so we really started with the basic mechanics
Learning to stand properly, then learning how to rotate your hips properly to throw a punch, then actually learning a few punches, then learning some combos (keep in mind all stationary) and he’ll make me do these movements again and again until I perfect them
Recently we’ve been in the ring doing pad work and learning footwork … I’ll move around the ring and throw different punches at his pads and hell clip me if I don’t get my hands back up or block properly
Also learning some defensive stuff too which I’m really bad at… it’s really tough for me to block because I’m not quick enough but trying
We do minimal bag work but he lets me stay after for whatever group lesson he’s doing and then I’ll hit the bag with the group class
Anyways the whole experience thus far really made me realize how out of shape I am and how much I’d get wrecked by someone with fighting experience … I’ll be less likely to mouth off to anyone in a bar for example going forward cause ya never know
All in all great sport, workout and plan on continuing for years
I also practice in my condo lol

It varies alot. Some boxing classes are glorified Tae Bo cardio sessions. Others actually teach you to spar and box, and require a partner. Though it would have to be a pretty hardcore gym to throw you to the wolves sparring with a partner right off the bat.
When I was like 17/18 I spent like a month getting my ass kicked by a 35 year old because I was bloat maxing and had no cardio

One time they made me spar a 225lb 17 year old, I was sick and couldn’t breathe through my nose, I hit him with a body shot and he called it quits. I’m glad he did because I was gassed tf out srs

This guy posts some vague **** that one might experience in the gym and tries passing it off as real.
Everybody here knows you got laughed out of the gym for having chicken legs and wearing a toupee.
You posted the thread yourself like a month ago.
Why even bother posting ITT it's not like it's a thread about wearing a toupee or living in a trailer home.
Be sure to post in those threads if they ever come up, where we know you have actual experience, instead of rehashing scenarios you've already been ethered out of.

I'd start doing a lot of full body plyometric type stuff. It'll be more similar to your warmups and training, the less you focus on how tired you are (and actually how tired you are) during training, the more you will get out of it. If all you're thinking about is how hard it is or how tired you are, the benefits you take away will be a lot less.
