I agreed with you that Japan have the naval advantage in the beginning of the war. But not by the time the USA entered the war.

Nuclear power can be used for some great or something devastating - there's no better way to produce power in this day and age other than nuclear and is the safest and best if 'done right' and using this to destroy a civilization is also another use, but I'm not sure if it such a good use.

It was Nationalism and Patriotic Duty to do so.
All the men went to war and all the women built stuff. A lot like how ancient tribal humans were. Men went to hunt while the women did other stuff.

It was known both sides air power was the future of naval warfare. Knocking out the American carriers would have been a gamechanger (the US could build more, but it would take time). Future battles such as Midway would have swung in Japans favor and likely victory. Problem was, every carrier of the Pacific fleet was out at sea. Luck? Maybe. Or someone knew something was about to happen and made sure none of the 4 carriers in the Pacific were sitting ducks.that doesn't make sense, at the time the US navy was small in power compared to Japans. The chance victory greatly favored the Japs at the start of the war.

Japan had no viable plan for invading the mainland USA (nor did any of the axis). They wanted to hurt the US badly enough so that the US would seek a negotiated truce and make concessions.
The US strategy for the first year was to just hang on until the new ships arrived. After that, the US had all the advatages.

If you are actually interested in the naval parts of the war this guys videos are a MUST watch. As most people know the battle of midway was the turning point in the pacific naval war. There are a lot, and they are long, so it takes a few hours to get through but super detailed. Basically a lot of luck and risk was involved..

That's probably the only thing that could unite the American people. "act of war" against us.

The US embargoed Japan, which meant Japan could no longer win the long game without expanding. They had no oil/resources anymore.
They had to go take over chit, which certainly meant the US would get involved. Or die.
We all know they wouldn't choose to die/surrender. It's baiting.

For years the US tried to bait Germany into a direct confrontation, especially at sea but the Germans were disciplined and didn’t react. Thats when the US decided it would need to provoke Japan.
The US wanted to join the war and was willing to lie and provoke others to make it happen.
