Social media is a lot easier to effectively ban as people need active accounts.

A 10 year old can watch pron. Placing an age limit on social media won't change anything.

It's just a pipe dream, the only solution is decent parenting and squashing corporate worship.

Only violence? You forgot to mention early sexual exploitation as well and learning to e-hustle, i.e. the girl too young to use Paypal and used her Mom's info to post slutty gym videos.

Not gonna happen. Government is pretty weak when it comes to social media control.

Just give Elon the reigns for a week and Instagram will be stuck behind a 10 dollar pay wall lol

you can require ID and selfie verification, it's really not that hard. not that i'd trust these companies with that information.

obviously the solution is for people to raise their kids better but apparently that hasn't really worked. there's a lot of things we don't let kids do until they reach a certain legal age.

honestly they should just ban tiktok for everybody anyway. under the guise it's a national security threat and China is constantly stealing information and technology.

Doesn't sound like a great idea to give a government power to ban such things. I despise social media, but it's a parent's job to raise their children to either not use it or limit their use. Look at some of these parents of fortnite addicted kids playing 100 hours a week.

There's also a paradox in that certain people support bans on some things but not on others. You can't cherry pick. You give a government absolute power or you don't. Best to not in my opinion. Banning things doesn't solve problems, it's like guns. You have to treat the underlying condition. Why are zoomers using social media so much? What are they getting out of it? How an we divert them to something more productive?

Some dumbass educational systems wax poetic on the good old days and teach abstinence only to kids who are gonna be fuking no matter what. Same with drugs. People will use drugs. Lot of good that does.

Not sure how they would be able to enforce it but I love the idea srs. For everyone saying it's up to parents I do agree but let's be honest...most parents today suck at being parents...

It wood actually change everything; social media is the gateway drug that leads to teen mental illness & prolonged degeneracy like porn addiction

You can't stop irresponsible parents from giving their kids a smartphone/tablet but you can make it as hard as possible for those kids to engage in those activities, at some point society has to step in with censorship

The average age for a child to discover porn in 2022 is 10 years old; let that sink in

I don't know if you can blame the parents on this one. They can't hover over their kid 24/7. Let's be real here... kids will be exposed to way too much even with the best of parenting because of social media/internet

Should atleast be 16, there are so many predators out there trying to hurt kids.

It won’t happen because imagine how much money tech companies will pump into that state to stop them from banning it. Just like the tobacco lobby in the 80’s and 90’s. Anything to get the kids hooked early

Good point. It won't stop them although might slow them down a bit. However, if there are issues that come up such as one kid trying to bully another online they can come down on the par..... oh wait..... holding parents responsible for the actions of the kids they raise.... this is 2022, not 1952.

The state cant raise children. You are supposed to teach your kid how to actually filter out the bull**** he sees on the internet, or to understand himself the dangers that comes with social media's influence.

Ultimately that law's goal is positive of course, but not the path to take IMO. You know you have a good kid when he makes it DESPITE all the **** on social media, if only that just makes your kid's success more likely to happen if you raise him properly, since he will be competing out there with a bunch of brainwashed morons. Hard to not excel in that enviroment.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

its far too late, but reversing course is the only way kids will ever be normal again.

Government overreach so i disagree.

The issue is that they should stop private companies from pushing globohomo agenda. Go on Google and all their search results are to globohomo websites which is an issue because they are effectively acting as a publisher pushing propaganda

Stopping private companies from doing what they want is also considered overreaching

What so many don't realize is you're supposed to make the government work for you, the people

That's exactly the point; we've allowed the private sector to push globohomo in every aspect of the internet & it needs to be stopped

So do you want to utilize the government's authority in accordance to the people's will?

Or do you want to keep letting the West degrade into a cyberpunk South American chit hole while screaming "government bad"

The problem is sex/families.

Hard to imagine a society thriving without the family unit.

The way amoral places fail is usually sex.
