You will just fail, not be arrested.

I am not a drug user but in my mid-20s I tried weed and said that I did during the polygraph. I didn't care for weed and said that too.

I was asked if I ever abused kids and I got pissed when I was asked that because I hate child abusers. So, I explained that I hate that topic and it pisses me off.

The tester told me that I had reactions similar to cops where they get hyped up about certain topics.

I passed it.

I work security alongside a bunch of former and retired cops and they've all told me something different. One was a retired Sheriff's Deputy, he told me as long as there isn't any proof or a record, then it's better to just lie on the polygraph otherwise you'll be disqualified for telling the truth. He advised some girl to lie about prior drug use and she told the truth instead of lying and she was disqualified. However, another former Deputy told me you should tell the truth and he knew some other guy that admitted to being a drug dealer and he passed was hired on. So it's hard to say. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

There are high security clearance jobs that require a polygraph. Most of them, they are more or less looking for honesty. If you have committed treason, murder, rape, or other high crimes, you don't need to be someone with a high security clearance. No, you won't be arrested, not likely anyways, but you won't get the job and might get investigated.

no, they aren't admissible in court and cannot justify an arrest.

Depends how bad it is but probably can just admit to it if you word it correctly.

It can also be easily beaten, i've known several cops who took certain supplements and just lied through the poly.

I have been polygraphed three times for employment.

I had touble (failed) one of the questions on one of the tests. We discussed it and the question was reworded and asked again with me wired up. I had no problems with the reworded question.
