Aren’t you the guy that can’t run a mile and a half in less than 15 mins. There’s a correlation here, if you’re generally unfit and your diet isn’t great, then your numbers aren’t going to be amazing either, it’s really not hard to be healthy.

that's hardly raised. Your HDL is pretty irrelevant. Post your LDL instead, that's the 'bad' cholesterol.
This was mine from September last year
Chol <5.18 mmol/L 7.32 (++)
HDL >1 mmol/L 1.67
LDL <3 mmol/L 4.85 (++)
made some dietary changes (generally removal for saturated fats, and this was last week
Chol <5.18 mmol/L 6.4 (++)
HDL >1 mmol/L 1.47
LDL <3 mmol/L 3.94 (++)
Trig <2 mmol/L 2.17
and no you should not be eating before if you want accurate chol results

Some people are genetically more predisposed to high chol.
I'd just pop a statin every other day for a month then go and get it checked again

It's well known that drug companies have been creating diseases for the past 50 years to sell drugs to you. I wouldn't worry about it.

Although I've blown the diet with too many starches with little fiber like bread in the past and gained weight. I'm surprised my cholesterol has remained low and I'm 51. My parents were on cholesterol meds at 40. I've never been on cholesterol or high blood pressure meds.

More cardio
Increase fiber
Mild weight reduction
Red Rice Yeast
Reduce saturated Fat intake
Choley in food has little correlation with blood levels but high saturated fat intake can for 25% or so of patients
Choley is typically most driven genetically, and these other factors can mitigate high levels.

Some stuff is genetic and you're going to be prone to it. I hopped on the pills a few years ago... just a small 10mg dose and it's helped. Not a bad idea to cut out drinking and carbs/sugars in general if you can. Every man in my family has had high cholesterol by the time they hit 40 and most of us are fit.

Stress reduction is also an issue. I remember my insurance company's nurse mentioned that high stress can increase cholesterol levels when I had an extremely stressful job.

Really the only thing to be worried about is high triglycerides and low hdl. Slightly high tris aren't going to kill you.
Also get retested in a few weeks and I bet they're not the same.
If you drink stop.

Newest literature shows cholesterol numbers dont coralate to bad health unless tris are really high with low hdl.
Your numbers don't warrant any concern. And just one test means nothing. You need to be doing yearly blood draws.

But I also eat a ton of fruits and veggies, especially since Christmas as I overhauled my diet. Then I have protein powder, low fat greek yogurt, oats, brown rice and a glass of wine every night.
