Sorry to hear about that OP, my union approved a 3 year 24 dollar raise which they said is the biggest contract raise in their history. Corporate greed without representation is usually a little have a company make record profits and screw their employees out of raises that they deserve

Also that is $3.75 million revenue per employee. If their margins are 10% then that is still $375,000 profit per employee. That all goes to Mr. Sheckleberg. You get 1.5% raise based on "average" performance.

They pulled this chit last year too....said max raise was 3%, I got 8%....my boss didn't get what he wanted, sent out his 2 weeks and a few days later sends out a rescinding email. Talked to him about it and said he had an offer for $15k more and was out and they offered him $10K so he stayed. I know what I make and I assume he makes more but I would have laughed at the $10k after going through all that trouble.
Also....that's not exactly how profit works, lol... but I know what you're saying. This company is also not set up like they should be where bonus' are paid out when a job finishes based off of realized net profit above bid.......pissing alot of PM's and Supers off too. Was talking to one of the PM's I work with who was told the company was setting up that structure and he came on at a lower salary than he wanted, expecting that bonuses would be in the 30-50% of salary range and now with all the "restructuring" they have decided to not set up the bonuses that way....for field staff they have capped bonuses at 15% of salary.

Realize you're just a cog, if you weren't they would be doing everything in their power retain you, or you would have enough clout to call your shot within the company and would be doing that right now. When you've lost control of your trajectory, it's on you, going somewhere else won't fix that in the long run.

An above average performance review this last year got me a 2.4% raise. Which is awesome, because the sociopaths at the Federal Reserve inflation-taxed me 20% to pay for the government deficit.

I get it from the company's perceptive.....Paying me more doesn't bring them any more value...and because I'm already maxxed out, and they know that, they know they cant get anymore out of me...they'll hold me here until I leave/threaten to leave....maybe offer me a carrot to try keep me, if not they know they'll spread the work and hire someone else, less qualified at a lower cost and work them up over the years till that person either settles in to their fate or leaves, rinse and repeat.

While your industry has been doing well the last couple of years, I don't think your short term future looks very bright unfortunately. Commercial Construction loan rates have exploded worse than residential.
You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

Last year I got an overall of 3.89 (hence the 8% raise instead of the capped 3%) and I jokingly said to my boss "Great, I can only go down from here" and he said "What do you mean?" I said this is a really high review score and when I get my review next year it will be gauged against this one and I'll get the "you're performance is down from last year" talk and that will be used to negate any request for a higher raise next year....and he kind of laughed and said "we wouldn't do that"
I will get my review in 3 weeks...will report back if I remember.

Yep, that's the ****ty state of the job market now. I'm sure they would be thrilled to have people get fed up and leave; they will just fill your vacancy with someone who is willing to work for the base pay. Even if they don't find someone willing to do that, they will just push your work onto a couple other people.
A lot of employers out there will fight tooth and nail to make sure their employees get paid as little as possible. All it's really doing is just demoralizing people, which is why a lot of people are waking up and doing things like "quiet quitting" and just plain leaving the workforce for anything else that will get them by. Of course it goes without saying it won't change anytime soon

This is a prime example on why you keep your resume updated and hop around companies for raises. Most times, you're better off chasing a raise through a new job compared to internally. (Ded fkn Srs)

I just think I've reached my max potential here and that's fine, it's just not a place where I'm ready to settle in, accept where I am and coast (if that will ever even happed, not that type) for the next 30 years.
In all honesty, they've been great up until the last 12-18 months. In almost 5 years I've been promoted 2x times, given a chit ton of new responsibility (too much but its all in the name of learning, growth and skills building) and added $45k to my salary which wasn't bad starting out.

Just heard that they are taking away some positions vehicle allowances. Guys who drive to sites every day and have in their offer letters that they get X/month for a vehicle.....they are now saying that it is not longer company policy for that position to get an allowance.
Supposed to get bonuses in 3 weeks and they still have not decided on the "new structure" of them.
CFO saying that our G&A costs are around 8% and need to be under 4%........Starting to think the writing is on the wall for the company. If they chit on 90% of the employees, these "growing pains" are going to get much worse as I know there is a lot of talk about that people are going to leave.
3 people have left in the last month (not the ones I mentioned before, that were fired) and have not been replaced.
I'll stay through April to at least get my bonus then after that, the door is open.
