No one likes losing money, but it's part of the risk you implicitly accept when you invest, and some products are inherently more risky than others. Btching and complaining won't change a thing. You do realise stonks aren't the ONLY thing you can invest in, right? If you're not happy with the money you've lost, and aren't willing to take the risk of losing any more of your capital, sell up, and buy some floating rate bonds issued by companies you feel are solid. Still some risk (company may go tits up), but generally safer than stocks and as it's floaters it'll track movements in interest rates. That's just an option for you if you are more concerned about capital preservation than making big returns.

Maybe I am sanguine about it - I've been doing this both in a professional and personal capacity for a long time now, so yeah I'm jaded. It's not something to be happy about, but it happens. That's part and parcel of investing. You kids have had it good for a long time - the stock market has been riding a wave of cheap money for a long long time now, so now that bubbles deflating, you're losing money.

The Democrats you're referring to would be considered far right extremists of today, so there's not much of a comparison. I miss the days when Democrats were able to define what a woman is.

I recommend people put their money into a stable value fund. It doesn't have the potential for higher returns like your average ETF, but it'll hold its value for much longer to help weather today's geopolitical BS. The world is too crazy right now to risk losing your retirement savings. When things begin to look brighter, throw it back into a good ETF and keep earning.

Pulled my 401k before the market started heading south after the interest rate hikes were guaranteed to start rolling in. Haven't regretted it.

Stable value was probably better in 2022 than it will prove to be in 2023.

That’s gotta be one of the worst charts I’ve ever seen - what dates specific? 69 years - where is the start and stop points?

What’s really telling is just how bad the modern democrat party is according to that -

Think of this - the Dems controlled the house for 30 years strait 1955-1995 until the Republican revolution election of 1994 which lead to great economic prosperity in the mid- late 90’s

That’s 30 years - a if they went further it was 60 out of 64 years since 1931.

And they could only find 18 good heads for a dem out of that ? Lol

Now given what I posted above on how horrific the Pelosi years alone were, think of how far they had to go back to find 18 good dem Congress years.

If you take from 1990-2023 43 years - have the Dems had 1 single run? No - actually they’ve been over every recession, except for the one on Clinton’s last year.

The early 90’s Tom Foley rescission

The 2008 Pelosi recession- which oh by the way also had 6 years of senators Clinton and senator Obama behind it - with senate control

Go back into the 70’s and early 80: dem veto proof supermajority contol lol - oh yeah spiraling inflation!!! Lol

Then you have what’s happened with the last of pelosi run

Why does your fake little chart say "When George Bush and the Republicans left office"... when Bush had a Democrat-controlled House and Senate for the last two years of his Presidency?

Maybe for the same reason it ignores a Republican-controlled House for the last six years of Obama's Presidency, and Republican-majority Senate for his last two years?

Okay? Tell us again how Australia did it right again? Draconian laws enforced by the military.

And like I said, when Asians shoot each other left and right, it's hard to write a ticket. Especially when the crowd sounds like a bunch of clucking chickens.

If inflation numbers for feb dont come back being much lower than Jan report then be ready for the recession 100%. Its just fact at that point. The fed WILL have to increase interest rates again which will crash the market. OR if they cant get inflation down that will crash the market. Theres almost no way the market doesn't crash at some time within the next year.

Lol.

I'm far from a supporter of republicans and democrats but do better.

There was no policy instituted by Biden responsible for gains made in the economy or stock market, the gains were made because the Fed didn't raise rates in 2021, this made Biden look good economically at the cost of the financial well being of your average American, if JPow raises rates in 2021 the "Biden economy" never takes off nor does inflation, Biden's policies wouldn't recover the economy or markets, they would make them worse.

The stock market is about to go on a massive run with perfect election timing, this will have nothing to do with Biden and everything to do with the Fed but Biden will take all credit.
