Anything Jones has released is complete BS for very good reason. He does not want to give anything away about his size and movement so Gane is left asking the same questions so what does he train for?

Jon Jones is still the best fighter in history having beaten the greatest list of opponents ever. Gane has beaten nobody and how is he this incredibly athletic HW when he was so tired after the 2nd round against Ngannou, Francis decided to get in 3 rounds of wrestling practice against him.

I don't bet on MMA man, not smart money for me. I don't bet on things I actually enjoy watching due to emotional bias. If I'm going to put money on sports betting without any basis, I do it on NFL to make games I don't care about interesting so I can watch them. How bout you? You brave enough to put money on this one?

Fair enough. I like betting because it makes me feel like I'm in the fight lmao. I was going to bet 1k on Gane by decision but I dunno if I want to bet against the goat.

Either way I think the fight will be very close but Gane will edge it, I think Jones will still end up the HW champ one way or another if he loses this fight.

I bet $40 for Ngannou to beat Gane by decis and got paid like $800. I think Ngannou is more of a monster than people realize after his Stipe loss

Yep, totally get how betting puts you right in there, but like I said I am stoked for this fight and putting money on a particular outcome would take away from my enjoyment of just wanting to see a great fight. I haven't followed the odds to know if there has been any movement on this one, but it does seem with Jones being the much more popular name and reputation, I would actually expect the odds on Gane to be more enticing to draw money that way so maybe smart money is on Gane.

That's not a small advantage though, that's a huge advantage. Having a striking advantage is what leads to his takedowns, the only exception is the Reyes fights, and that wasn't a good fight for Jones.

This is true but only because of the takedown threat, Ganes roots are muay Thai but he'll keep distance in this fight.

Jones has zero experience fighting in heavyweight, and even counting his experience he's not an active fighter anymore. but I do agree he has the better fight IQ.
I never said he had trouble making the weight. With his wrestling background, making weight isn’t the issue. But if you are in your 30’s, cutting weight absolutely impacts your body. Jon has even said how good he feels not having to cut an additional 20lbs on fight week, and was a big LHW. And Jon took the time to put the weight on in a healthy way. Gane has also shown gas tank issues in the past, and openly says how doesn’t train if he doesn’t have a fight upcoming (so ridiculous, I think he may be trolling).

Gane does have a kickboxing advantage, but that’s also against guys who are big lumbering power punchers. He will not be able to get off nearly as freely against Jones with the threat of a takedown or clinch. Jon also is very good as distance management, lateral movement, and cutting angles off. If he tries to just stay outside and make it a kickboxing match, he will find himself backed up against the cage. Jones still has a real 3” reach advantage on Gane.

Lol, if only we had a recent example of an all time great with out of this world fight IQ, who had lackluster fights at the end of his run where he arguably lost, who took years off to then come back at a higher weight class to fight for the title? If only….. hmmm.

Basically it boils down to if Gane can keep it a kick boxing match, then he absolutely has a chance. Jon and his coaches know this, and Jon is the greatest fighter of all time, and has the highest fight IQ of all time. No chance Jones and his team haven’t developed a game plan to severely limit / neutralize the one area where Gane has a realistic chance at beating him.

My money is not on Jones. There is evidence that he has mayor health problems. He is training only in the pool and you only do that when your body is ruined. You can watch the 2 embedded hes just swimming.
Everything I post is trash.

LOL @ basing your fight predictions on some short clips from a scripted UFC show.

What evidence are you referring to? The Embedded shows are not proof of anything. Jones is very purposely not allowing any real training footage to reach the public to not give Gane any info to work with. Everything about his current form is top secret.

This is supposedly a recent clip of Jones with Walt Harris and Jones looks healthy and huge. This weigh-in is going to be very interesting.

I never gamble cuz I never won and haven't gotten the addiction. (I prolly have addictive personality)

But tempted to put 20 bucks gane by ko... dunno why it just popped in my mind.

What do you use to bet?

What gas tank issues? As far as I can tell Gane has one of the best gas tanks in the entire sport, and Jones is fighting at this weight for the first time...

Lol at comparing Bisping to Gane. I know why you brought that up though, you seen the same Jon Jones interview I did. If you want to go with what Jones says then so be it. The only problem with that is Bisping was one of the weakest champions ever, while Gane has potential to be the best heavyweight of all time.

Everyone knows Jon wants to wrestle Gane, the problem is can he actually do it. Jon Jones always had a striking advantage. This is how he sets up his takedowns. He doesn't just charge at guys like Khabib. It's going to be harder taking a guy down when you can't bully him on the feet

If Gane isn't worried about Jones striking he's going to have a much easier time defending the takedowns, and I'd argue an easier time defending them then against Francis.

Francis has scary knockout power, Ngannou wouldn't have been able to take Gane down if Gane wasn't forced to be so defensive.

Jon is talking a lot about how good his conditioning is. He has pretty much admitted that he’s looking to wrestle as well (shocker). If that’s true Gane might be in trouble. Jon is a great game planner and also amazing at making adjustments mid fight, like all the GOATs in MMA and boxing.

Fuark, I was pretty convinced that Gane was going to destroy him up until fight week. Now I don’t know what to think. It totally depends on what Jon looks like, and it’s impossible to predict after 3 years off and +30lbs.

One thing is that Jon’s HW team is full of complete bums. Is he wrecking them everyday which has led him to overestimate his ability at HW? Gane has more talent and athleticism in his big toe than all of his team combined.

Yeah I feel that. I thought Gane would make him look bad but now I think due to the motivation we're going to see a different Jones, I think it will be a CLOSE fight but Gane will edge it.

Yes, Gane's tank is weak, go rewatch even just round 1 against Ngannou and notice how fast the bounce goes away, his mouth opens and he starts going backwards trying to stall after Ngannou wears him out in the clinch and lighting him up with strikes while he dragged his head and it gets worse from there. Gane never throws more than one lazy strike at a time the entire rest of the fight while Francis just eats him alive. I don't know where people are getting that Gane is some super powerful, athletic guy because he has not shown it in the cage, so what he can dunk a basketball

He's literally bouncing into the fifth round, what are you talking about dude?

He definitely slowed down more than he has in other fights due to an actual Gorilla laying on top of him, but I don't see where you're getting that he gassed.

Ngannou never 'ate him alive', I'm the only one who predicted how that fight would go and I wouldn't even say that. He won the fight due to control time, similar to the Islam/Volk scenario. Gane beats Ngannou in every rematch they have from that point on, it was truly an out of the box moment from Gane not being prepared for the wrestling, which is what I said before the fight happened.

I predicted Ngannou to beat Stipe because of how much I knew he would improve people said it wouldn't happen
https://forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com/showt...9925303&page=1

Then I predicted Ngannou to win by decis through wrestling which literally no one said
https://forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com/showt...hlight=ufc+270
https://forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com/showt...hlight=ufc+270

Show me where you've been right about these things?

he's probably planning to pressure him into the cage which is where a takedown could take place. Even great wrestlers get taken down against the cage. Anyways goin 2 bed hyped for this fight

Best gas tank in the entire sport huh?

Gane was gassed in his fight with Francis, and while being up 2-0 he couldn’t win one of the last 3 rounds, or prevent a takedown from a poor wrestler with a blown ACL who couldn’t do a proper level change to save his life. He couldn’t defend Francis’s takedowns because he was gassed and couldn’t move, plain and simple.

Have not seen the Jones interview you are referring to, but the point and example are still very similar in regards to GSP.

I do agree that Bisping was a target of opportunity for GSP, but he at least won the undisputed title from a real champion and then even defended it. What has Ciryl done besides be gifted an interim title fight against a washed Lewis as part of a leverage play by the UFC on Francis…… and then promptly lose to the legit champ in Francis.

If anything, Jones is coming into an even easier scenario where he’s fighting for a vacant title in a weak division, against a guy who is 1-1 in his last two fights and who hasn’t beaten an elite fighter.

And you can’t be serious about Gane and “potential GOAT” talk when he already lost to Francis.

That’s almost as silly as saying it’s harder to defend Francis’s clumsy ass takedowns than Jones since Francis is a power puncher. Come on man.

Look, I get it, HW division is super weak right now and the UFC is trying to hype Gane up since Francis left. Hell, I wish more than anything we were getting Francis vs. Jon. But I also see where the UFC has to have a face of the HW division. If Jon wins, he can fight Stipe while it gives them time to build up the likes Blaydes, Aspinal, Pavlovich. If Jon loses, I see him probably retiring (maybe a mutual retirement fight with Stipe), and then they have Gane as a face for the division.

Francis isn't a poor wrestler, explain why you keep saying this because it's the crux of your argument.

Gane was throwing tons of volume at Ngannou for those two rounds and then lost momentum due to the takedowns, that's a different kind of fight he wasn't prepared for. It's really that simple. He didn't gas unless you consider not being as fast in the last round as being gassed. He took Francis down in the last round and then went for a leg lock because his coach said he was down and had to finish the fight. True story btw, given his corners advice the leglock wasn't as questionable as people thought it was.

If it wasn't for fear of disrespecting Jones I'd give this to Gane handedly because that's what my mind says, but I still think it will be close.

I feel like if the wind blew in the other direction and Jones had a -1 on his record due to the Reyes fight people wouldn't be so confident that he'd win this matchup.

Look at Gane after the rounds, very slow to get up, head down walking back. Yea he tries to muster energy at the beginning of the round buts it quickly fades without doing anything. Hoping in the same spot is not the bouncing I was talking about. You are definitely right Ngannou is a freakin beast but Gane is supposed to be the fast athletic HW to run circles around big Frank but couldn't sustain it after 2. Gane came out the gate, shooting on Ngannou within the first 15 seconds but he wasn't prepared for wrestling? That's some odd logic man.

I'm still not seeing what you're seeing. In the third round he's still looking sharp until Francis takes him down, then when he gets back up he pushes Francis against the cage, they split up and then Ciryl is winning the striking exchanges until Ngannou takes him down again against the cage. 4th round Ciryl is winning the striking until Ngannou takes him down and lays on him for the rest of the round

5th round he's STILL looking faster than Ngannou despite carrying that monster on his back half of last round, then he TAKES him down but ends up on the bottom (Coach gave bad advice and said he had to finish so he went for a leglock)

So yeah, I just don't see what you see dude. This fight actually proves how endurable he is

He clinched because he was against the cage in the first 5 seconds of the fight against Francis who could kill anyone with a punch at that point. Not sure what that has to do with Ngannous wrestling tactic

Like holy ****... Rewatching that fight the fact Ciryl was still moving after carrying that monster is insane. Just look at how winded people get vs Khabib straight away and that's a much lighter division

That's cool, kinda makes me understand how judges feel. Two people can look at the exact same thing and reasonably see it completely different.

I remember Jones posting a walking around scale picture, when he was in his LHW prime - 218lbs. He does not have a natural heavyweight body, imo.

We will see in a couple of days.

Yeah Jon Jones is the definition of a natural LHW. DC is a natural HW who cut down to LHW, Ciryl Gane is a HW who couldn't make LHW if he even wanted too.

That being said most heavyweights don't look like Ciryl Gane either.

Also even tho I favor Gane and Jones is notorious for acting nice and then doing retarded sht I'll still be sad if he loses. Dude could have just done a Khabib and ran away and kept his legacy. Real goat sht

Lets be real, if Jones loses people will be saying how obvious it was, moving up a weight class to fight the best striker in the division after 3 years and arguably losing to Reyes

But if he wins people will be saying how obvious it was, his wrestling and goat status etc. This is a tough fight to call.

Gane moves really well, good distance management, biggest reach for an opp Jones has ever went up against etc etc, but hes just not beating Jon Jones brah.
