You know it will fail, as would anyone without luke warm iq. These people need to be cut off all supports, other than mental and rehab, and housing if clean and willing to work.

Caught doing a crime and instantly evaluated if mental care is needed, otherwise 5 years in prison or a 6 month strict rehab. This happens for any crime and everytime.

The only way thats going to actually help and not just "my feelings and empathy".

I agree criminals should be punished. Doesn't have much to with it though, living on the street isn't a crime in many instances. Doing drugs often isn't either.

Again, the OP posted ignorant bullchit for some weird reason. The intent of the proposed bill is not to hand drugged out gutter zombies $1,000. It's to essentially do what you're suggesting, provide support for mental health and housing. The direct payments can theoretically reduce government middlemen and bloat and give more options to recipients.

It's an age old problem, this obviously isn't going to be a silver bullet, but at least be honest about what it is or isn't.

I'm tempted to move there, identify as homeless, and pay cash for a rental.

Many borderline people will feel cheated. They will have to make a list of arbitrary qualifications some administrator will handle.

I predict lots of money will be siphoned off by officials.

Agreed. If they can't take care of themselves.

There are some working homeless though living in cars and taking your order at restaurants. Those ones should not be sent to the looney bin.

Sounds like an interstate commerce issue.

Almost feel the best idea is to sterilize and send them off to BLM land somewhere to be free do all that chit without bothering anyone.
I don't want them on BLM land. That's where I go camping. They can voluntarily camp there if they are into that, but we should not encourage it. No bringing them food there.

I prefer a big box shaped building they stay inside of, funded by thrift stores on the first floor.

Yep. All the money will make it to the drug peddlers soon enough.

And if it is targeted, then that means only friends of the Oregon democrats will get the money. You or I get turned away.
