Oregon introduces bill to give homeless people incentive never to work again
Instead of using the money for efforts to get them off drugs and train them to work so they could be a productive member of society, they give them $1k a month for life as long as they continue to do nothing and just be homeless.

The $1,000 payments can be used at recipients' discretion, but supporters say it will be used toward rent and other living expenses.

A better idea would be to institutionalize the homeless. Most have severe mental issues. Anytime caught panhandling gets sent to the looney bin.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Yup time for everyone making less than 50K to just quit their fuking job and play video games all day. Not worth it to wake up early and bust your ass off dealing with scumbag customers when you can just watch Netflix all day and eat pizza.

It's not a crime to be batchit crazy, it is to trespass, do drugs, steal and fight though.
Almost feel the best idea is to sterilize and send them off to BLM land somewhere to be free do all that chit without bothering anyone.

Honestly seems like a great way to travel. Just say you're homeless and keep getting free plane tickets

Those lazy homeless bums need to be put to work or else thrown in jail if they keep harassing people for a handout. Make those bastards cut the grass and clean the streets if they can't do anything else.

Here in San Diego, I was driving by the Del Mar race track in the evening, legit saw a panhandler take off his rags to reveal him wearing some nice jeans and a polo, rolled up his rags, walked to his Mercedes and throw them in the back. Looked at my then GF, and she just said, "maybe we should try that tomorrow"

Not the worst idea if it's mainly redirecting existing spending more effectively.
Not new or exciting, and I'm seriously skeptical too because these things usually result in a lot of wasted effort for no improvement, but I don't blame them for continuing to try. And hey, maybe it's just one more step to rock bottom where Oregonians will get fed up and elect Hitler to fix it LOL.

Isn't this kind of a band-aid for a huge wound?
Wouldn't it be much better to invest this money into affordable housing subsidies, so if someone has a home they can work on at least a steady supply of food and eventually employment and a proper living etc. Then health care which can be a sizeable burden for the lower income demographic.
This looks like an ultimately useless yet feel good fix so politicians look after their optics, and it looks like they care and are being proactive about a social issue. If you just hand someone cash and not the proper infrastructure for an actual life, the money will go nowhere except the local boozers and drug dealers.
Oh, and it could definitely shuttle all the homeless into Oregon.

BRB moving to Oregon to sell meth, get out of jail the next day every time I'm caught. My overnights in jail will just give me more connects. I'll also have well paid students selling 2 liters of soda for $6. Laugh all you want, I'll be retiring in 2 years.
Yeah Buddyyy! Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

You guys overestimate how many homeless are mindless drug addicts and underestimate how many are transitionary homeless. Worst case scenario, that 1k runs right back through into the economy. Oh well. Best case, you help a bunch of poor people get back on their feet. It's not enough to destroy work incentives. You can't even make rent on 12k a year in cities in Oregon. But you can maybe get back on your feet.

Uhhhh...yeah no. Everyone except for liberals know homeless are drug addicts.[/QUOTE]It's not even most. While drug use rates are high, the majority of homeless do not have a drug addiction. I'll also remind you many homeless live in cars or couch surf.
