Yeah very similar to realtors. Had a sloot who was a realtor and went to her office once to see how things work. Lots of them just call a chit ton of "leads" and harass them with cold calling even after being told no. The broker guy just encourages hustling hard and about sharing stories of being abused by annoyed leads (who wouldn't be when they already said no a couple times, no most of times just means NO) then they just laugh it off and continue hustling despite the insults cuz it'd make them stronger or sum stupid chit or go back about practicing "scripts" in a bukkake circle formation. It's a fkin circlejerk akin to those MLM scams. All fancy suits and empty wallets lmao another realtor sloot I dated called me one day and asked for help looking for another job cuz she's behind her condo rent, tempted to ask her to either sell her fancy Mercedes to generate fund or lemme coom in her mouth for sum quick buck instead.

Joke of an industry, lots of people think you have to be a realtor to be involved in the real estate bizz when it's just another investment venture like stocks aka no money = no honey. If you have no big fund to invest you'll gain chit lol

Some industries aren't really sales as much as they are just using grenades to fish. Call a thousand people and expect 1-2% conversion just like internet marketing with email or newsletters. Financial services, real estate and things like gym memberships or PT are the same way. When I (briefly) did gym sales they handed me a list of names and numbers from a display for free personal training they had set up and told me to call them all and tell them they won second place - which just happened to be a free workout with a trainer!

Thinking of sales you think about telemarketers, door to door salesmen, and car salesmen along with with real estate sloots. It's like any other field where there are many levels and often some people are given the title of sales when they are order takers. It's a great skill to have, even if you don't do "sales". I used to be just in the trades but have gone on to professionalism and now although not "sales" when the client comes in with a problem I have to solution and need to convince them that our solution is the solution.

You know you have done something when you bring someone in and they already don't trust and are almost against you from the get go, they are irritated and a bit upset, and when they leave they are at least satisfied and know you did the right thing.

I’m in medical devices so it’s a lot more clinically driven than pure product selling.

Simple

When things go awry, they spin the limitations and failures of the company to perform in a way that does not lose the company clients. As far as I am aware, at least. Takes some skill in persuasion and whatnot. They often don’t know the finer details in regards to the core of those limitations, but that isn’t their role really.
