I was born in 1983 so I can remember the last couple years of the 80s but the 90s was definitely a great decade. I would go back in heartbeat whether I was a kid again or just the age I am now. The only thing I would miss is all the knowledge that is on sites like youtube. You need to learn how to fix something, build something, how something works, there's a video for it.

If you watch old videos of malls and grocery stores from the 80s, people just appear more relaxed. The way they walk, talk to one another randomly, respond to interviews, etc. It’s not an illusion, the internet really hurt a lot of people in terms of their ability to socialize in real life.
And it skewed people’s expectations of how others should behave. That standard is now “keep to yourself and look at your phone”.

Born is '73 here...graduated HS in '91....college in '96.
The 80's were care free for me. Loved that time. Look back on it and it really was a great time to be alive. Parents kicked me out of the house every Saturday morning and would just say, be home when the street lights come on. Would spend the day on my bike riding from friends house to friends house.
The '90's is when responsibilities started kicking in for me. Worked full time and went to school full time. Still had a lot of fun, and am super grateful that cell phones weren't around back then recording every dumb move everybody is making. I could have gone viral dozens of times for the stupid chit we pulled.
Today is information overload. Both correct information and "misinformation". It gives parents a false sense of insecurity. You hear about every bad thing that happens across the country making you feel like it is happening everyday in your backyard.

As a kid we were MUCH more independent. Out of the house after breakfast, and be home by supper. For those 10-12 hours in between you were basically feral.
The internet and cell phones changed things quite a bit in the mid/late 90’s. Was easier to make plans and be in contact, but that came at the expense of just “hanging out” and organically coming up with things to do.
I feel the sweet spot was the mid 2000’s - early 2010’s. Still very much the benefits of the technological boom / Information Age, but before modern Social Media and biased agenda driven non-objective media phucked up the West’s mental / emotional / social constructs.
So if I had to pick a decade, take me to the 2000’s where I was driving my old 97 Tacoma / 02 WRX, pirating my media off Limewire, playing my PS2, and chasing girls with low waisted jeans with low self esteem before dating apps bombarded them with simps to artificially inflate their egos.

Born in 80 and a child through the 80’s, teen through the 90’s was bliss. That free spirit feel was just something that’ll never happen again. I know some say it’s because you were a kid and I get it, some of it is definitely that. But also a world without internet or even cell phones at all left a lot of mystery and unknowns. The world seemed much bigger and it was easy to get away from everything and if you didn’t want to be bothered there was no way for anyone to find you. You could go out and do dumb/crazy chit without worrying about cameras or social media. If someone didn’t tell you their opinion about politics, gender or race face to face then you just didn’t know, so not many people even had that on their mind.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.
Makes me feel eternal, all this Pain is an Illusion.

80s to late 90s were GoaT. Peak civilization before the rise of Skynet (AI, internet, Social Media, etc.). People were more social, in better shape, and happier. While connectivity has made some things much more convenient, they have over complicated life much more.
No GPS? That's ok, people are cool if you get a little lost.
No online dating? That's ok, just go to the mall with a buddy and meet some girls and hang out.
No smartphone? That's ok. You are having fun with friends, actually talking with them and doing activities.
