I actually have evidence to the contrary.. my battery has a sticker “4/16” on it.. granted, it’s probably near end of life, but still cranks relatively hard.

I've had multiple mechanics misdiagnose my starter as broken when i had corroded battery cables, so the mechanic isn't going to be a lock quick fix. You may end up with a bill for a starter and a bunch of labor when you really just needed to take a wire brush to the battery terminals.

Also, batteries can be duds and go bad after a year. It's worth trying another battery to see. Enough people have said their battery tested fine but they replaced it and their issues were solved.

maybe something is draining the battery if it needs a boost. If it starts with a boost then its not the starter. Battery shouldnt go bad in only a year. So some parasitic draw somewhere could cause those issues. Or the alternator

Earlier this year my battery tested just fine at autozone but I had to jump start it at least once a week. Changed battery and problem was solved.

Hmm I have a feeling it's the battery. Got it tested at 2 places but maybe there machienes are fkd.

it's not that the machines are wrong it's that the test doesn't guarantee your battery works for your car.

I doubt it, but even if it is you should try the easy and cheap solutions first. You could walk outside right now and clean the terminals with a wire brush in 5 minutes and see if that's it.

Sometimes you can bypass the starter and get fire. What you do is either pour gasoline down the throttle body or use some starting fluid and just spray the whole can down there. Then, light it. You will have fire, guaranteed.

The problem is that it's hard to find virgin oil. Yeah, she says it virgin oil but in reality it's been lubricating over a dozen shafts.

It was the starter got used one off a 2020 for $75 and got it put on for $150
