I've lived on a Naval base and now just outside one...trust me, you'll get used to it. You literally won't even hear them. I know this seems impossible; and it will be longer than a month, maybe even a year; but don't give up on your place man. Give it some time

OP, I used to live very very close to some railroad tracks. The trains were loud AF and would wake us up all the time…
After a couple months we never noticed them and they didn’t wake us up any more.
In this situation I think your neighbors may be right, you will get used to it.
People would always come over and comment about how obnoxious the trains were and we were literally deaf to them unless someone mentioned it.

interdasting. I live right under a airport flight path as well, but it's not a commercial airport, more like rich people's small private planes and enthusiasts. I literally can never hear it inside unless I get the random military plane doing a flyby of the airport or something.


Anyway, if you want to make some lemonade, go to flightradar24.com and check out all the specs on the planes coming in, where they're going to and coming from etc.

Bro, trust me. You won't even hear them in a month. I live about 200 yards from the direct path of PBI (Trump). You sleep right through them at 5am. Been here 10 years.... it's actually reall cool watching them ABORT landings "go around". It happens every so often and you will notice because of the weird sound it makes. Always think ones gonna crash cause it sounds like it.

In well over 3 years time I couldn't get used to living in front of a subway station nor on a busy road and that chit isn't nearly as obnoxious as loud trains or airplanes. Trust me not everybody gets used to noise.

You'll get used to it. At one point I lived on major six-lane boulevard and had a bedroom window that faced the street. I didn't even hear it anymore after a while. Like literally had to focus in to even know if there were cars or not.

as an aviation enthusiast and amateur aviation photographer (who had a helo pilot re-share a photo she didnt know i took and allegiant airlines re-share a photo i took of their A319 right at VR with mountains in the background), i find it difficult to see this as a bad thing.

almost bought a house that was maybe 1 mile off the approach for a runway near me. would have been epic even thoguh the biggest plane i ever saw come in was a 737-4 but also the USAF T-birds were known to "park" there when they were in town.

I would suggest you construct a sound focusing funnel that terminates in your master bedroom such that you can direct the force into the toilet should your wife/girlfriend go too far at chipotle and return home only to fart out a fourteen pound chocolate hiney ham that terribly clogs your toilet that way you avoid hours of aggressive but unsuccessful plungering with your 2 skinnie J’s live at the 9:30 club 2004 tshirt pulled up over your nose

I know I'm late...but this info must be disclosed by the selling agent. They need to give you all this info - water tables / flood zones / noise studies / aircraft flight paths / they'll provide you and entire chart color coded by dB (decibels) to indicate the average noise.

So if it was not disclosed - you can sue. If it was disclosed or you didn't review it, or your RE agent didn't bring it to your attention, that's 100% on you and your crappy agent.

More than likely it was disclosed at closing, 1 page amongst the 70 pages you have to sign. OP probably signed without noticing and is SOL.

If you want to solve the problem for real, you can try soundproofing the home as much as possible. I dont know about walls but theres windows you can use.

100-200/day? Isnt that improbable for them all to take the same flight path? That would be like 100/~16 (hrs of the day in operation) ~7.5 flights every hour, ~1-2 flights every 10 mins at the minimum?? naw

I could be totally wrong, idk. Bonus for california I think the state requires a limit on that, I live near the airport in SD but it's not really an issue.

Well the house belonged to a friend of the family and my uncle was my realtor so legal action even if possible is sort of off the table.

Bro there are times when planes take off every 3 minutes, like I just barely stop being able to hear the first and the next is taking off. Got up around 6:30 the other day and by 6:50 7 planes had already passed overhead.
