So I guess we’ll be screwed at eighty.Who the hell actually has time to do all of this lol? 4 hours of cardio, 3-4 hours of strength training, and then HIIT on top of that? Not all of us are baldcels that can write books about common sense lifestyle changes. I lift 5x a week for 45-50 mins and do long walks when I can and it's more than enough to keep me stronger/more fit than 95% of people and my bloodwork looking juicy

There’s no way in hell I can follow those recommendation unless I quit my job and just exercised full time srs.
I also feel like I’d injure myself pretty quickly if I tried to do that much intense cardio in addition to strength training.
Also, BRB just become an elite-level athlete with elite VO2 Max and you’ll live longer LOL no chit

It is crazy, but I guess that's how hunters gatherers lived? I don't know, but I'm trying to implement more and more cardio in my routine now

This dude also preaches about grip strength but I don't believe I saw him in his book mention simple deadlift, squat, bench, etc. (I've read Outlive FWIW - huge health/wellness nerd) standards that most everyone can hit with basic training and dedication (not even talking about being an "advanced" lifter by powerlifting standards). His argument is to have a VO2 Max to allow you to do the things you want to do when you're 80+, that's not a must for everyone, but if you want to do certain activities and basically remain 'young', that's what it takes...
I've kind of realized all these health authors need to come up with weird principles to sell their books because living healthy/well isn't sexy or complicated in theory - it's difficult in execution because it's boring and takes months to reveal results. But worrying about, for example, a 2 minute dead hang when most people can't even squat 185 is retarded and gives these guys less credibility IMO. This guy was also a ketocel until he (to his credit) admitted how retarded that diet is.

Grip strength is used in research because it's easy to measure/quantify, he and the people who use it are aware that it's not the cause of strength but usually an indication that someone is engaged in some form of resistance training.
The VO2Max stuff i'm not yet clear on, it seems that it's incredibly challenging to increase this capacity past a certain point, I wanna dig deeper into it
I think there is a point of diminishing returns for lifting specially for compound lifts but I enjoy it and will hopefully lift till the day I die,
