Dr Peter Attia longevity recommendations

Misc are you aware of Dr Peter Attia stuff around longevity? He seems realistic and I found his stuff to make more sense than others in this area:

https://peterattiamd.com/outlive/

cliffs of his framework:
He has a lot of emphasis on Cardio, VO2 Max type training (Zone 2 and Zone 5) stuff, strength training and 'balance'.

nothing whacky with diet, basically some intermittent fasting, high protein diet

and a focus on having fulfilling happy relationships

there is more stuff but thats what I took from it

thoughts?

Common sense, thou he does look like sheit and sound a bit condomsending or whatever that word spelling is.

You don’t need his book.

Longevity is easy:

- collagen sup
- no sugar
- low carb, use carbs for explosive athletic performance
- make sure not all your fat is butter lol, use olive oil, avocado etc.
- eat only organic
- no soy, smoking, alcohol, medications, drugs
- fresh air
- sleep 8 hours
- cold and heat exposure
- limit caffeine
- limit dairy, use only raw dairy also
- nmn, Resveratrol
- lots of water (double your current intake)
- obvious vitamins supplements like D, multi, omega 3

The two main factors that increase longevity are

1. Caloric deficit

2. Oxygen deprivation

HIIT or other intense forms of cardio are supposed to be beneficial. And limiting caloric intake has been proven to extend lifespan in animal studies and it is probably the #1 known method of doing so in humans.

Yea I like his stuff. His ApoB recommendations are probably controversial, but also probably true. Keeping it super super low throughout life (likely only able to be down through statins) will probably prevent heart disease.

He emphasizes exercise trumping everything for lifespan and healthspan.
Previously he thought diet was #1 modifier to maintaining health but it is actually exercise.

And people think statins are controversial due to some of them having side effects. If I got on one (which I very may well soon for longevity purposes) it would be one that doesn’t hurt insulin sensitivity. The muscle soreness and stuff I don’t care about lol

Pretty sure the consensus is that high intakes of saturated fat increase LDL (including apoB) thus increasing cardiac risks. I'm pretty sure most of the opponents of this theory are keto charlatans.

Pretty sure collagen supplements have been found to have a miniscule (if any) effect on connective tissue health and that's when consuming quite a high daily dose that's difficult to actually intake.

Also pretty sure moderate intake of caffeine and dairy are also associated with better health in some of the larger systematic reviews. Dairy for things like cardiovascular health and caffeine for reducing risk of dementia if I remember correctly.

I don’t think there are randomized controlled trials particularly on that, but I’ve seen enough to believe that ApoB is dangerous, and I haven’t seen enough to convince me that it’s only dangerous in conjunction with high insulin levels

It would be difficult because nobody has been on keto their whole lives, at least in our society.

Yes I agree. But I think keeping both insulin (as well as glucose, but the high insulin comes first and is the leader not lagger) and ApoB is probably key. And of course blood pressure

I will have both my insulin and ApoB checked on Monday. It was funny cos they asked why I wanted ApoB test. Well I watch too much youtube, that's why I guess.

Based. Are you familiar with the Homa IR test? I’ve read it’s good to test for insulin resistance. Uses a simple calculation based upon both fasting glucose and fasting insulin

Heart disease and high cholesterol being a danger is only if someone is fat, it has nothing to do with saturated fat or keto or meat or anything else, it’s only if you’re a fat ass with a terrible diet.

ok i should've explained more

if you follow his recommendation, you'll need to be exercising 10hrs+ per week. That's a lot

1 hour cardio (zone 2) , 4 x times a week

+ strength training

+ balance

+ 2 x times (zone5) hard cardio

it's a lot plus a strong emphasis on cardio and VO2 Max

Who the hell actually has time to do all of this lol? 4 hours of cardio, 3-4 hours of strength training, and then HIIT on top of that? Not all of us are baldcels that can write books about common sense lifestyle changes. I lift 5x a week for 45-50 mins and do long walks when I can and it's more than enough to keep me stronger/more fit than 95% of people and my bloodwork looking juicy

His argument is to have a VO2 Max to allow you to do the things you want to do when you're 80+, that's not a must for everyone, but if you want to do certain activities and basically remain 'young', that's what it takes...
