Wonder what those basement dwellers did for 2 days while most subs went down. Most of them seem to not have a life outside of Reddit.

Lol those stupid ***gots are so powerless in this situation that all they can do is impotently keep themselves from enjoying their own content. I’m sure the le Reddit shareholders are weeping at the thought of two whole days of some sub forums being shut down only to go right back up to business as usual.

"Why doesnt google just get on their channel change their passwords lock them out and set all videos public again"

Why don't the admins just set all of the subreddits to public and then permaban all of the mods that participated? I think that would be great for the site, a nice clean purge of the worst part of the whole site lmao.
The moderators don't have any real power within the company right? I don't get how this "strike" or "protest" has any real teeth?
The moderators are not actually important or integral to the site's functionality, they are just gay internet nerds with no life, they aren't the site's software engineers lol. They don't matter.
Ban them all, public all subreddits, then assign new mods. Problem solved?

I thought the strike had something to do with monetizing the app a bit more, but I may very well be mistaken.

The mods work for free and have a ton of power which they abuse. One mod oversees over 2000 subreddits. As time went on they would get paid to promote companies since they have so much influence.
Reddit saves a lot of money getting all this free labor while Meta pays millions annually for people to act as moderators for ******** and Instagram.
This API thing forces 3rd party apps such as Apollo and RIF to shutdown because they cannot afford it.

what's going to happen is, reddit will not cave, then these dorks will turn the sub back on because they have nothing else to do and no source of meaning in their life. then they'll go on feeling like they stuck it to the man, when they utterly failed.

If they wanted to protest, they should have just stopped moderating. If that is not effective enough, it means their cause is not sufficiently supported and it is right and good that it is ineffective.
If you were successfully gas lit by the group of reprobrate imbeciles that is Reddit Moderators, then you are even dumber than you enthusiastically advertise yourself to be. This is not the big bad Corporate Reddit vs the userbase, with moderators selflessly leading the charge. It's Reddit Inc. and its userbase VS The Moderators as the sole antagonistic force.
Mark my words. If this does not have an end date, a new moderation model for Reddit should be expected. All the moderators have done through this stunt is revealed their malevolence and destructive nature to the site admins. Now the users, administrators, and shareholders all see the results of this moderation model very clearly, and it has utterly failed.

And, in any case, tough ****. If they are not capable of doing it because it is "too hard", then maybe they should pass on those duties to someone more competent.
If Reddit moderators have trouble completing their duties with the tools and functionality that Reddit themselves has provided to them, the most likely explabation is that Reddit moderators have misunderstood what their duties are intended to be.

Reddit basically is the successor to Digg. It can easily be replaced with something else.
And agreed that reddit mods are annoying AF.
I've been banned over the most retarded chit. But not having mods is just going to lead to a bunch of Indian spam trying to sell dick pills or something.

seems like the mods are just trying to stick it to admins even though they really have no power. meanwhile the general userbase gets annoyed because they have to create accounts (that have to get a approved - which wont) and wait it out. the mods are hurting the community but trying to claim its the admins fault. If reddit cared, they could totally do a crowd guided semi automated moderation system and even use AI to kill spam. But they won't.

I guess the more technical reddits will suffer.
r/physics is already a cesspit of disinformation at times because of all the stupid questions and pop sci posts. AI can't catch that.
And I can't imagine what r/medicine will be like without good mods.

Reddit Inc. has ended the malicious attack orchestrated by the gay queer mods agaist the userbase in the obvious way that they were going to as soon as they felt like it.
Clickbait title; backpedals the whole video. Sad to see.

The fact that the mods think it is appropriate to abuse their extra permissions to deprive that internet resource from everyone because they aren't going to get to use their mod tools anymore is just really all you need to say about the kind of people they are.The fact that they believe themselves to be in the right and went on this campaign to gaslight the internet and userbase is not surprising at all.
This is a change that has no effect on 99% of users. The people at Reddit (the people at the company, with qualifications, degrees, etc) investigate and analyze the effects that any major change to the platform will have on the user base, and their analysis led them to this API decision. The mods did not do any analysis. They don't know anything. They are petulent children that are upset about losing their third party addons, and then they abused their positions to amplify their fringe niche concern over this API change at the company. Instead of protesting this like a grown adult (stop moderating) they decided to do exactly as a child would do and cause as much inconvenience to as many people as possible while bringing as much attention to themselves as possible. Just ban them all.

Reddit needs to apply a permaban on any account with moderator status on any subs that were made private in the last week, no questions asked.

Reminder that Ghislaine Maxwell was one of the most influential mods on reddit, somehow.
I wonder if there are any other GIGA MOGGERS running things behind the curtain of one of the biggest sites on the internet.
