Aware me on how this Reddit "strike" can't be instantly solved?

The issue is that a bunch of reddit moderators made their subreddits private, right?

Why don't the admins just set all of the subreddits to public and then permaban all of the mods that participated? I think that would be great for the site, a nice clean purge of the worst part of the whole site lmao.

The moderators don't have any real power within the company right? I don't get how this "strike" or "protest" has any real teeth?

The moderators are not actually important or integral to the site's functionality, they are just gay internet nerds with no life, they aren't the site's software engineers lol. They don't matter.

Ban them all, public all subreddits, then assign new mods. Problem solved?

I don't get it?

Lol OP is dumb AF.

Subreddits are basically like youtube channels. The creator owns it and does what he likes with it. Its like a youtube channel making all their videos hidden in protest, and your dumb ass saying... "Why doesnt google just get on their channel change their passwords lock them out and set all videos public again"

Pretty sure that any control that a "creator" has over a subreddit is by the whim of the site admins and can be revoked at any time. They even have a policy where you can request control from the site admins over any subreddit whose "creator" has been inactive for a certain number of days. What makes you think the owners of the website can't do as they please with their website?

By submitting user content to reddit, you grant us a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, unrestricted, worldwide license to reproduce, prepare derivative works, distribute copies, perform, or publicly display your user content in any medium and for any purpose, including commercial purposes, and to authorize others to do so.

I'm pretty sure you don't actually know anything, and in any case, if you conclude that "OP is dumb" because I am unclear on the internal operations of some dumb website, you are a troglodyte. But go ahead, educate all of us and explain why Reddit Inc. cannot do utterly whatever they wish with the platform and content that they legally have complete control over. Go ahead, we're waiting, Lord Dunning of House Kruger.

I'm giving OP a similar example. Obviously, a site administrator can do whatever the f0ck he wants to a user account or a whole subreddit. Same way google can delete a youtube user or channel. I'm giving OP an example as to why they won't do something like that.

I am OP, troglodyte, and this is just you walking back what you said. If your post was just intended to point out that Reddit "won't" do that, then pretty much everything you said is wrong (creators don't "own" chit) and nothing in my original post is actually incorrect despite your objections.

Save your dignity and run along now. Everyone can see what you wrote right there and no one will fall for your attempts to backpedal. You have advertised your room temperature IQ here so thoroughly and profoundly that there is literally nothing left for you to do except silently squirm away. Run along.

What is even your objection to the post you quoted? Those in control of the company can certainly do what I've described, which is the sole claim of the post. That you randomly read it as some sort of directive of what action that I think corporate should take is just an issue of your reading comprehension. Are there really two outstanding retards here or is this an alt account for troglodytebrah?

Who would have thought a bunch of retarded obese spergs were in the wrong? Shocking!

Inconvenience everyone over some niche features that no one cares about. No one cares about your mod tools. We care about the massive amounts of information indexed by search engines and the participating in discussions. They inconvenienced 99% of users over something 99% of them would never notice.

Reddit Inc is correct and the spergs are wrong. This is relevant to the company, so real-world rules are now in affect, which are: the mods are a group of people with no required qualifications or prerequisite skillset, therefore they are totally expendable by definition, and furthermore, they should not be part of the conversation regarding what direction the company takes, no more so than a person off the street. IP ban all of them for inconveniencing 99% of users.

It's unreal that the internet is largely taking the side of the mods despite the fact that they selfishly inconvenienced everyone over something that no one else cares about. If they wanted to enact a proper protest, they should have just stopped moderating. Instead, they blindly lashed out at the entire userbase in a fury of unguided autistic rage.

Ban them all.

The end.

Reddit can actually be pretty good for that. Search a question topic, and just include "reddit" at the end and you can often find some useful info on topic.

I was actually doing that with something earlier today, and the results kept taking me to some sub (mainly r/nutrition) that fayg mods made private because of this bullshyt.

Exactly. You reflect 99% of users. Reddit is overwhelmingly used as a vast source of information provided by regular people that has been heavily indexed by top search engines.

The fact that the mods think it is appropriate to abuse their extra permissions to deprive that internet resource from everyone because they aren't going to get to use their mod tools anymore is just really all you need to say about the kind of people they are. The fact that they believe themselves to be in the right and went on this campaign to gaslight the internet and userbase is not surprising at all.

This is a change that has no effect on 99% of users. The people at Reddit (the people at the company, with qualifications, degrees, etc) investigate and analyze the effects that any major change to the platform will have on the user base, and their analysis led them to this API decision. The mods did not do any analysis. They don't know anything. They are petulent children that are upset about losing their third party addons, and then they abused their positions to amplify their fringe niche concern over this API change at the company. Instead of protesting this like a grown adult (stop moderating) they decided to do exactly as a child would do and cause as much inconvenience to as many people as possible while bringing as much attention to themselves as possible. Just ban them all.

Reality is this won't solve anything and their money problems only exist because they aren't actually trying to make more money, but rather they are trying to completely obliterate third party apps.

Reddit was mad that AI companies were using the APIs and endless user-created content to teach their AI's.
