I don’t have an EV. But to all the bros that say “just wait till they block your car with the flip of switch.”

Couldn’t they do that to any new car. gas, hybrid, or ev?

My wife bought a model Y Tesla a few months ago. She really likes it and I admit it drives super nice. Almost like you are floating. Just the one big computer screen handles all controls.

She charges it at night in the garage to go to work and drive around town so it cost next to nothing.

The issue is when you have to drive long distances. We live in S Cal so there are literally chargers all over the place. But for example we have driven it 3 times now to Vegas which is around a normal 4 hour trip. Around 280 miles one way. We have to stop at the 2 hour mark in Barstow to recharge and if it is hot or we drive 75 mph or faster again in Primm....which is about a half hour away from Vegas. Then of course we charge it in Vegas and then again in Barstow on the way back.

To sit there and charge to a full battery takes about 25 to 30 minutes. So it can add a good hour or so to a 4 hour drive. The charging place in Barstow has a 100 chargers or so and they just erected solar panels above them so they get electricity from the sun.

That is where the real $$$ for Tesla will come. Charging. It cost them next to nothing to supply you the electricity at one of their charging stations but you will pay $15 or so per charge. At home of course you don't pay Tesla to charge but you do have to buy an adapter from Tesla. So even there they are making money.
Words to live by...."You're at the shopping mall with your girl but a hot chick walks by. Are you going to look at the hot girl? No. You use your peripheral vision."

St Augustine, Florida has regular gas at $3.10.

Most of the country doesn't pay California's outrageous gas prices, which are heavily inflated due to taxes and regulations.

Tesla is a great option for a daily commuter IF you have a second vehicle.

Would never, ever rely on an EV for my only transportation. Way too many potential issues. Texas had no power for like 2 weeks after the ice storm in 2021. You can keep some extra gas cans in your garage no problem. Not many people have a $20k power wall.

I live in the 4th fastest growing metro in the country...#1 is 2 hours away. does the clown world public education system teach kids in cali that people either live in cali or in corn fields in Nebraska?

there is no basically $2k...it's around $1k for me to have the luxury of relatively instantaneous "recharges", unlimited supply of "recharging" stations, unlimited range, no degradation in range and a vehicle that is still useful to me or someone else at 200k+ miles. Plus a truck bed that tesla doesn't offer.

$1k/year for that? it's a deal. sorry bro.

It is actually once you realize thats why the CIA loves Tesla and co love selling cars into china (and anywhere else for that matter) because they can use the cameras and software on all those cars to spy.

Do you guys even have half a clue how much information they could collect on someone who owns or gets in one of these things?

The Tesla was cool when barely anyone had it, now every phaggot who lives in the suburbs has one.

I've driven a couple, and while the car has a very distinct HNNNNG acceleration, I will never buy one.

I associate the car with suburban karens, and men who don't leave the house.

They can already keep drones like those DGI mini's out of restricted airspace etc.

They are clearly going to do the same thing with cars with this 15min city BS they are running in the uk and use the software in these cars to lock people out of certain areas or zones. The amount of crazy chit they can do with all the tech in these things most people cant fathom yet.

This. People don't even do math anymore.

Even with a base model Tesla he didn't include the depreciation cost or insurance cost.

I pay $1800 a year for gas, which honestly is a drop in the bucket to have a vehicle that has no limits to where it can go and at what temperature I'm driving in.

The only argument gascels have are road trips. Which I can agree I would not road trip in my Tesla.

I'm a Tesla investor so I love to see their continued success. But I have a hard time believing they are practical for saving money.

Assuming you spend 50K on a new Tesla. And assuming it would cost you $400 a month in gas in your regular vehicle. It would literally take 125 months or 10.4 years before the cost of that Tesla would pay for itself in gas savings.

Factor in your warranty/battery prices. We already know Tesla's are basically a 10 year vehicle max. Unless they have a program where you can do a long term finance on new batteries (lol).

For comparison I know people that drive Nissan Sentras as commuter vehicles. Assuming you buy right. You can get a demo/lightly used extremely low millage vehicle for as little as 15K from the dealership. It will average 33MPH (city and hwy combined). Assuming you take care of it you should be able to run 8-10 years without any major problems arising.

Yeah a Tesla is a lot cooler. But the numbers just don't break down for me.

That’s 3.8k a year just to drive your car bro.

Do you even math????

And if you have a big ass suv with 20 gallon tanks good luck too at 15 mpgs.

The savings aren’t minimal.

Like I said Tesla Isn’t for everyone. If you don’t have home charging (since home charging is a lot cheaper than supercharging), the savings aren’t as good. And it is a pain having to charge on the street for an hour.

But for me? The savings are massive.
Bruh, a car that has a tiny 10 gallon tank is getting WAY more than just 20 mpg lol. My Sedan gets 25-26 just on 100% city driving or city-driving conditions (i.e. stop and go traffic on the highway - never cruising at 60 mph+) and has a 16ish gallon tank. A 10 gallon tank car would easily be clearing 30 mpg given how much more efficient cars are these days.

The only argument gascels have are road trips. Which I can agree I would not road trip in my Tesla.

The rest of the “negatives” are pure COPE
I pay $130 for 3 vehicles and one of them is new. Why so high?

What's your payment, term, and interest?

How long do you sit at charging stations?

Honestly, I'd prefer paying more to just fill up my car and be on my way, but maybe that's just me.

There's nothing cope about it. I'd rather pay more for convenience, and it doesn't seem like you're saving much money to make a difference or net benefit.

But the numbers just don't break down for me.
nowhere was I claiming the gas savings would be a good ROI on the price of the vehicle. just that the savings are significant per month.

where did I say the gas savings would make up the msrp??? silly argument.

Also teslas are going for 40k base. thats before the tax credits. tesla has the potential savings price of the car to be 25k. which includes credits and a conservative gas savings estimate/year.

where tf can you get a 25k semi-luxury car that costs nothing to run??????????????

teslas right now are an insane deal for what you get.

PURE COPE ITT

Luxury car? Fookin Lol. Their interiors literally look like an unfurnished room with a laptop on the table. The build quality is horrendous, etc. There's absolutely nothing luxury about owning a Tesla. It was just a flex for wealthy liberals to feel good about themselves and the first mover in this space. There's no way you can tell me that a Tesla looks sexier or feels more luxury than the Mercedes or Porsche EVs coming out.

its minimalist luxury. full pleather seats heated steering wheel heated rear seats rear vents the best infotainment, decent sound system in base model. quiet soft ride. instant acceleration. soft material all around.
