But I think it's pretty obvious games today sell way more than older games period, gaming is exponentially more popular then it has ever been, all games are selling more than they have thru history.

Halo 1 sold 4 million copies in 4 years.
Halo 5 sold 5 million copies in 3 months.

Show me anyone who thinks halo 5 is better than halo 1

The sales numbers game isn't really a genuine way to compare old Zelda games to new ones, there's hundreds of millions of more people interested in video games now.
Yeah exactly, Twilight Princess was the last Zelda game to launch on a popular Nintendo console. After that it was after the Wii's popularity died out, and into the Wii U and 3DS era which was a lot more niche.

Before then Ocarina of Time was the last Zelda to be released during the peak of a popular Nintendo console's lifetime. Surprise surprise they are also by far the best sellers.

The Switch has been a massive sales success for Nintendo, and BotW has always been it's #1 exclusive since it launched.
