How much are you drinking? That way you can figure out how taper effectively based on what you intake.
Also, at the same time you should replace it with another habit.
The issue with something like drinking, smoking or even drinking caffeine is that it is a multi-faceted addiction. You aren't just addicted to the alcohol, but the process of the engagement. So for example, I am addicted to drinking caffeine, but I also am addicted to the driving to the local gas station and picking them up. It's a routine.
So as you taper down, just replace the alcohol with something else like coffee or making some sort of Perrier with lime. Then once the alcohol is tapered down to zero, you break the routine habit and create new ones that are actually good for you.
Any time you feel cravings for it, go do something. This is probably going to be a hard mental struggle in denying this. Do pushups or go for a walk every time you get a deep craving. It will also help if you keep mentally telling yourself that you don't drink anymore. Establishing a mental picture of you being a man that doesn't do something anymore is a stronger way to fight against the addiction that when a lot of people say they're "trying."

The absolute best tip I can give as someone who has drank heavily for multiple years on end, and I mean multiple times per week for many years.
You can quit any time you want, you just have to have a desire to do it.
All this bs about withdrawl symptoms and medical stuff is a load of crap. thats stuff refers to down and out drunkards on skid row who drink a fifth of vodka straight on a hot day and eat stuff they found in a trash can. Then drink some more.
The real trick to quitting is to just do it and not tell anyone you are doing it. Others do not have your best interest at heart. They will try to sabotage you or mold the outcome to meet their needs. They do this because they like you the way you are. If you change, they basically feel they have to change as well. It would be easier in many cases if you stayed the same so they didnt have to change.
Same goes with getting fit, losing weight, all that sort of stuff.
Notice that you have tried a bunch of times and every one of those time you reached out to someone for help and look where it has gotten you.
Next time, just quietly drink put down the last drink , dont make a huge issue about it and move along. be a man and suffer in silence. Its really just a matter of finding something else to do so you dont get bored.
Good time to square away your diet and eat some veggies and the like. The added nutrients will be very good for your body.

"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

No experience with tapering from alcohol, but if withdrawl is fukking your sleep, smoke that chit before bed. You may hate it, but it'll definitely knock you out at night.

Agree with RLA.
My own additional thoughts are that you will probably want to taper in something like 3 day increments.
Like:
- day 1 through 3, 10 beers
- day 4 through 6, 9 beers
You might be able to start trying 2 day jumps if you feel comfortable.
I'd consider putting each day's worth in a separate grocery bag with the day or date on it that you will use it.
The easiest way to eat a chit sandwich is one bite at a time.

Cold turkey, take some narcotic pain killers. Tons or water. Be fine in 48 hrs.

You are gonna have to sack up and accept that sleep is a luxury that you aren't provided for a good week or so. It is what it is. You aren't working, so when the naps do eventually come you can crash for a bit. Like he said, it might be 2 hours or so where you're not even sure you fell asleep.
I never did benzos or anything. But at those times where I had to detox myself a bit, I would lay down in bed, so tired, but be awake the whole night not able to sleep, night sweats, and by the time I feel like I'm about to sleep it's sunrise and I gotta work. Lol ****. ****in sucks bro. Even worse, when I did get some sleep, it was nothing but nightmares or eerie ass dreams that felt real.
I've only felt like I had to taper for like a day or two. So not sure if I've experienced what you are experiencing. But one of the worst things was the lack of sleep for days. But I knew I had to go through it because I drank like wild for days before.
Sorry brah, you'll make it. No pain no gain. Made me realize how important sleep is to a functioning body and mind. You can do this dog.
Edit: oh yeah, in between those tapering beers, you gotta force some water and food in that body of yours when you can. Put back in the nutrients that alcohol takes out. I know what can be pretty hard at first too. Alcohol kinda sucks dude. I honestly still drink here and there socially but I'm 36 and it's getting to be less and less worth it. I had my fun. Get yourself right man. Alcohol is now getting in the way of you smooching the world and everything it has to offer.

What’s the point of being sober?
Sober you’ll just be a 40 year old incel loser that sits at home and plays video games
That’s literally the rest of your life sober
Just drinkmaxx and live it up and if you die you die

Go to a doctor/specialist. You're asking people for advice that don't know your particular situation, physical or mental triggers etc.
