A former co-worker of mine had a foster daughter (which qualifies for medicaid) and he was actually paying to add her to his insurance because it was almost impossible to find a doc who would see her in any reasonable amount of time.
If the majority of potential customers/patients were using a single payer program then doctors would have to accept said program or try to carve out an income without seeing 90% of patients. Because the private pay/private insurance would probably only be a small percentage of population.
And that means also that if the single payer program wants the population to actually receive care so that they can continue to produce/consume and so provide tax monies then the single payer program will have to pay a high enough amount to get those services.
Now if your government just wants to kill the population and commit sudoku you are screwed. And for many western nations it at least looks something like that.

I'm fairly conservative and I'd be in favor of "free" healthcare. The idea that someone who made all the good choices in life getting sick and ruined by hospital bills is pretty heartbreaking.
If we say there is no money for it; well, we have money for public schooling, and libraries. I'd say not-dying is more important than learning about trigonometry, cause you can't trigonometry if your dead. Plus in this age, all information is readily available, so beyond basic reading, public schools are even less necessary than before. So if we can't afford a public health care system, maybe we can get rid of public schools to fund it. Public schools be teaching gay nonsense to kids anyway, they deserve to be shut down.
We have money to send to other countries wars. Maybe we can stop funding that too.
We have a tax system where about half the people are not contributing, and those people get to vote. Maybe we start making the poor pay their fair share! That can help fund a public health system.
With a public health system in place, the money spent for welfare programs could be reduced and put toward the health system as well.
Now that said, the government is historically bad at running things. So I have little faith they would be good at running a health care system.
There's got to be a better answer but I don't know what it is. Maybe a public healthcare system with the option of private insurance/hospitals for those that want it. I don't know.

The Health Insurance system in the US is so fuked up that they basically run the hospitals. So you have a lot of people who get Insurance from their jobs and poor people are well-insured, but the people who are self employed and have to pay for their own insurance getting totally fuked paying $500/mo per person and having a $12,000 deductible before the plan pays for anything.
So yes, I would be in favor of "Free Healthcare" if they could start over and make it an entirely free-market system. "Medicare For All" would end up being just a big government takeover of 30% of the entire US Economy, which does nothing but fuk things up further.
THe Healthcare System in the US just needs competition from free-market based providers.

Disagree with the second part. It's in the best interest of the insurance company to try and not pay out. People with insurance absolutely go broke.
Health Insurance does not equal health care. That's why Obamacare was a scam just to get the insurance companies more money by forcing people to be customers or pay a fine.

Why do libtards not understand what free means.
Its not free if they're taxing you 20k/year so fat libtards can see the doctor over any trivial sht they have like diarrhea or a cough

In the past five years, more than half of U.S. adults report theyโve gone into debt because of medical or dental bills, the KFF poll found.
A quarter of adults with health care debt owe more than $5,000. And about 1 in 5 with any amount of debt said they donโt expect to ever pay it off.

Allyson Ward and her husband loaded up credit cards, borrowed from relatives, and delayed repaying student loans after the premature birth of their twins left them with $80,000 in debt. Ward, a nurse practitioner, took on extra nursing shifts, working days and nights.
^^^Do you believe an NP is buried in $80K in debt because she didn't have health insurance?
https://www.texastribune.org/2022/06...-medical-debt/
If you or someone in your family is hit with a significant cancer dx [not talking a mole removal] odds of bankruptcy are significant.

Let's be real- health insurance can't insure that you remain in good health. It should be insurance against being ruined by medical expenses, however it does not function that way as insurers have inserted themselves into the medical decision making process.
Imagine if medical insurance involved -zero- medical decisions and was a straight insurance against expense where you made a monthly payment and in exchange the insurer agreed to reimburse you for expenses up to an agreed upon cap.
Want to insure against $100K in expenses? $250K? $1M? The premium would adjust to reflect the risk based on your age and overall health.

Healthy care in America is expensive, to expensive in my opinion. I'm not in favor of an entirely government run health care system. Prices will still stay high in that case, and taxes will go higher to pay for health care costs.
By law hospitals are now required to post how much procedures and services cost. In cases where it isn't an emergency, I wish Americans would shop around, price compared between hospitals. As I've read and learned the costs between doctors services can be enormous.

Because I don't want innovation to stagnate.
This doesn't mean it can't be improved, mainly due to insurance artificially driving up costs, but overall it isn't a mystery why the U.S. drives innovation in healthcare.

reverse income tax: able bodied people are expected to work and working is directly beneficial to them, the reverse income tax would be a subsidy to bring people up to a good standard of living [not luxury, but what is often called a living wage, meaning able to afford median rent/expenses]
Both of these are superior to the current programs IMO because what we have now penalizes people for working and earning money as one can lose more in benefits than they gain by acquiring any other income. With reverse income tax not working at all doesn't pay, working is better. And the subsidy would phase out gradually so that there isn't a cliff where earning more income yourself is worse for you overall.
I understand not wanting to pay for other people to have children. Really.
However with our current system which has killed family creation and given us more single moms and lower birthrates I think we need to do something proactive because otherwise we are headed towards idiocracy or seeing native populations displaced by the import of poor people from other countries.
If we want to encourage families then maybe the UBI for children is somehow related to a two parent family. Though I hate to penalize children who have no say about what sort of parents they get, or to cause people to feel financially forced to enter into relationships with bad partners. That seems bad.
It is in our interest as a country for children to have stable lives and a healthy upbringing with adequate housing, clothing, food, and general physical security. Without that effective education is hampered and don't we want an educated healthy population??
Maybe a program focused on children should be restricted to expenses for children- diapers, formula, children's clothing, groceries, rent subsidy. That would be more complicated to administrate though.

I believe a population that doesn't need worry about the essentials is free to create/innovate/flourish.
However I also admit a society without hardships may also use that freedom to create their own, like trying to figure out which gender they are.

I'm going to cancel my health insurance next year. I'm paying roughly $300/mn for HIGH DEDUCTIBLE health insurance. What this means is that I always end up paying out of pocket any time I go to the doctor (extremely rare), AND I pay $300/mn to my insurance provider for no reason at all.
Urgent care can provide roughly the same level of testing as an ER, and it costs 1/10th the price.
I haven't been to the dentist in 15 years now, and I am extra-strict on how I brush/floss as a result. I'm going to start using this approach toward all my healthcare.
I will order blood labs on myself at the end of October, so I have 2 months to tie up my diet and get some solid numbers on the blood lab.
My plan is to keep ordering my own blood lab once or twice per year to keep myself healthy with a better diet.
If all americans gave up their health insurance, they would improve their own health immediately, and indefinitely.
EDIT: an acquaintance of mine recently said that her family hit their deductible for the firs time in 24 years.... Imagine paying for health insurance for a family of 5 for 24 years, AND paying for all the medical bills due to high deductible...
They basically are out a half million dollars.

They run a variety of promotions and specials.
Try searching for whatever sort of lab work you want done. You will get multiple results and packages.
Sometimes you will find single labs that are less expensive, but other times you may find a package deal that is a better value than purchasing separately.
You may want to research as there can be more than one type of lab test for some values and there may be one type that is considered superior.

So you have a lot of people who get Insurance from their jobs and poor people are well-insured, but the people who are self employed and have to pay for their own insurance getting totally fuked paying $500/mo per person and having a $12,000 deductible before the plan pays for anything.
