Boyos the answer was given early ITT.

When you can’t handle life and all seems lost, fairytales like religion that don’t require anything but belief are appealing.

Don’t require work, smarts, luck, personality, etc.

Nothing but belief.

Following Jesus actually takes a lot of work, but the work has healing properties for yourself and others.

Because Jesus saves.
I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.

There's some truth here. Cant say i ever met someone that said "ya know, i really regret believing in Jesus. Im going to go and fuk my life up now."

Plus Christians tend to just be happier people, whether it's a fairy tale or not. Having a set standard to live by is always going make a better society. It's probably why they're being targetted for extinction.

But WhoNose about that.

If thats all that was required to be a christian then I doubt there would be much complaint, but its not. What you described is more along the lines of Buddhism.

For hundreds of years (and even to this day) there are people being disowned by their families and have been ostracized by their small rural communities for not following specific nuanced tenants of the bible.

This is especially true for islam, but thats just another brand of religion to be lumped in the same shelf

Buddhism isn't theistic iirc. Also it sounds like you're describing orthodox Christianity

Yeah a bunch of people really fuked up interpreting the Bible.

It’s really hard to get people to not fuk things up if you haven’t noticed.

But it’s also gotten through to more people than any other writing and has caused more good in this world than any other force. Focusing on people who can’t do it right as a negative, ok, condemn the book as a whole (starting to be questionable), what’s your plan that’s better then what the Bible has to offer?

A strict moral code for self and show love to your fellow man, idk what life philosophy is gonna beat that.

Because belonging to a cult makes them feel like they are part of a large family.

Oh definitely believe what you want, just don't run around soliciting and proselytizing it to people that are not interested.

Its gotten pretty bad, even on the misc. with that one miscer that seemingly makes a thread everyday telling people to embrace jesus and posting hymns and whatnot.

The points i've been hinting at are the fact that christians aren't attacked and criticized for no reason or because the youth just want to be rebellious against something that may be deemed as "law and order" There are unfortunately real grievances caused by christianity and unfortunately its the orthodox variety, as the orthodox varieties tend to be the loudest and most persistent and ones to find themselves in politics and try to pass laws based on their beliefs.

Evangelicals are orthodox and are such a large group they've become their own voting demographic that politicians focus on/pander to when running for elections.

I think your confusing orthodox with evangelicals

Eastern Orthodox is about as far from evangelicals as you can get.

Now they’re positive, energetic, have good paying jobs, tons of friends, opportunities seemingly fall in their laps. And it’s like immediately after they get born again.

Dunno if I believe it’s literally Christ’s intervention, but I’ve noticed it too often anecdotally to ignore. There’s gotta be something to it srs.
Because the Bible is the best self help book ever , people don't know it . But economics and marketing have tried to copy the bible in many ways . You should know this , the Bible repeatedly says that you must abstain from pleasure which is also infinite self help gurus would preach . I still am half way to accepting Jesus Christ as the son of God . I question a lot about God . Does he really exist ?
