Whenever one side was winning, the gods would get involved, kill a bunch of humans and turn the tide of battle, then they’d do it for the other side. Humans got played hard in that story.

I always thought Hector was sort of portrayed as the good man that gets mired down and owned because of his desire to be a good man, which is ultimately his undoing. Even his pleading to Achilles about doing the “right” thing with funeral rites and such makes him seem weak and Achilles initially punished him for it.

Hector has a beard to cover up weak jawline

Also Hector has a castle and army protecting him. Achilles is a hunter protecting himself and dreamy. It's sexier when a man can handle any battle himself.
