If you are not going to school, the single best thing you can do is start working. Experience and learning a skill as early as possible will greatly benefit you. There are a LOT of 20 something year olds out there unable to find a job because they have no experience. In today’s culture, the trend of waiting to start working has had really bad outcomes, both on a personal level and in the economy itself.

This isn’t just my opinion, this is the opinion of a lot of economists who assess individual decisions and why we have the problems that we do. For example, one of the reasons why we see crime so high is because blacks used to have high employment rates in the 16-19 range. Today, that number is rapidly shrinking. With a lot of other groups, they graduate college and can’t find jobs because they have no work experience. Median income is getting pushed up in the age range, meaning that individuals aren’t making the most money at median age anymore, but rather later, which has an impact on retirement age too.

There is more to it than that, but those are just some examples.

Kicked out around 18-19. Moved in with sister. Got own apartments 19-22. Moved back in with sister. Got a rental house. Moved back in with sister at 24. Got house somewhere around 27.

Ages might be off, I can chronicle my life but the ages are fuzzy.
