The only trick is to know your measurements. Either get a flexible tape measure and measure your torso, neck, back length, waist etc, or find a shirt that fits you really well and take measurements on that. Then only shop for chiet that fits those numbers.
Fit is everything, even more so than price. But there's so many people throwing clothes out, and so many middle aged moms trying to run a side hustle re-selling them, that you usually don't need to compromise on either.

Wranglers are the best quality+price+non woke cucked Levis stuff that I've found. 13 MWZ "cowboy cuts" are a classic and legit fit me perfect. They are high waisted, so definitely like a western look, but I have stubby legs for my height so they work great.
Amazon has them for $30, but they are normally like $45-$50 in stores if you don't want to help build Jeff Bezos's yacht.

for shirts...some days i'll just wear a plain white v neck t shirt with the jeans and boots...pack of 5 or 6 is like $15 at walmart. flannels are also good if i want to put something over t shirts...i've got them on sale from $5-$15....the wrangler ones seem to be the best and don't shrink as much.
only "fashion" thing for me is that stuff doesn't have any brand names written on it...don't really even like the little logos on the chest but sometimes that can't be avoided if you find a good enough deal. for example the izod sweat shirt ($~12 at Belks) i'm wearing today has one but it's tiny and most would have no idea what it means. would feel like a try hard douche wearing any logos from "popular" brand names.
