Troy was a great idea. Great cast and great story to base on. I still like it but it's missing something. Then I realized it was written by one of those Game of Thrones bastards and I understand how it was fd up
Dat Gladiator soundtrack though.
Honestly there were only a couple songs from Gladiator that really stuck out to me. Everyone raves over the final few pieces and "Now We Are Free" has 1000 covers on youtube. That song never really resonated with me. The battle theme was top tier, tho. I will give it that.
Maybe if Pitt would have had triple the screen time. Troy was kind of a mess with the supporting cast. Orlando Bloom is terrible. Crowe and Pitt are a wash but everything else goes to Gladiator.

Gladiator was top notch writing, directing, acting. The fight scenes were all glorious from the opening scene to the final fight.

[Img]https://i.ibb.co/tXSVkMc/Screenshot-20231113-184616-Chrome.jpg[/i mg]

Troy had some good scenes but nowhere near the same quality.

[Img]https://i.ibb.co/2Wb67Fy/Screenshot-20231113-185031-Chrome.jpg[/im g]
Yeah I agree Orlando Bloom was gay and lame as hell. Like the other miscer said I'm sure it was intentional but... still it was pretty cringe to watch.

But I disagree with the rest of the cast of Troy. Troy had some serious acting talent on its roster. So did Gladiator, but Troy gets the edge over Gladiator, imo. Also Rose Byrne could get it like you wouldn't believe. Damn, son.

Coincidentally saw Gladiator last week, and Troy today, srs. I feel like they're incomparable.

Gladiator had better music, a story that hits home to anyone with a family (or cares for family), and a clear protagonist and antagonist. Fictional though.

Troy takes Homer's Iliad and makes a movie out of it. It "felt too long," IMO, despite being similar length as Gladiator. It has great acting, but doesn't "hit home," with its story. And the story is predictable (everyone knows of trojan horse, everyone knows how Achilles dies, everyone knows which side wins).

I'd put Gladiator at 10/10. Troy at 8.5/10. I would watch Gladiator once every 6-18 months. And would be interested in Troy maybe once every 18-36 months.

Troy was a great movie in its own right, but in terms of being a retelling of the illiad, it was terrible.

Troy does not hold up

It's filmography today is so dated.

Gladiator is timeless

Troy had better fight choreography that's about it.

Troy was way more childish.

Gladiator vs Braveheart is a better battle. Troy was second rate compared to Gladiator in nearly every category. Didn't find it memorable at all, maybe I should rewatch it.

Troy had potential to be better, but IDK, something about it felt very second-rate, last time I watched it.

Both really good movies, but gladiator is better. If you don't have serious feels at the ending of gladiator, you're not a human. Plus the soundtrack for gladiator is fukkin epic.

I would like to know more about this unedited version of Troy with Helen of Troy's teds though.

To everyone saying Gladiator was better I hear you and I respect your right to be wrong in the face of adversity.

I thought about it some more and while I think Joaquin Phoenix is a fantastic actor, his weird effeminate beta display for his sister kind of cringed me da fuk up. That scene where he is trying to cuddle with her.

The rest of the film he was great, tho

both are good movies, but I gotta go with Gladiator taking top spot.

Pitt annoyed me in Troy, some of his line deliveries felt forced. I thought Eric Bana as Hector was the best performance of Troy.

Crowe killed it as Maximus
