Now repeat that cage fight for director, senior director, VP, etc.
It's not even tied to hard work or added value. I just watched the most valuable design lead in my old division get laid off last month. He was working on a project that was going to save the company millions. Another team wanted credit for that project, so guess who got targeted.
Anyway, when businesses are growing like they were from 1950-2000, it's easy to invent new positions, new departments, and offer promotions. When business revenues stagnate, like they have for basically 15 years (don't confuse stock price with company profits, the former is half phuckin buybacks), then promotions become a zero-sum game. And the guys currently in those seats aren't gonna volunteer to be subtracted, nawmean.

I have a high-paying job and a high net worth and the grind realistically isn't worth it for most people. The reality is the really big payday comes at the Executive level and there's chitloads of politics that go into who gets that seat. It's not some meritocracy based on "hard work".
Further, even if you make that seat, your responsibilities/stress are through the roof. There's a reason why a lot of the people at the top of the career ladder are some combo of alcoholics, drug addicts, divorced, clinically depressed, out of shape, sociopaths, etc. The people legitimately pulling themselves up by their bootstraps are grinding their dick off even when they make it to the top. They're not weirdos making thousands of posts on the misc.My clients are investment bankers/private equity guys (aka the top of the food chain) and believe me when I say those guys do not have any time to enjoy whatever paychecks they're making.
I do agree Gen Z has a lot of issues and I'm curious to see how they're going to handle the upcoming chitstorm given how they're already depressed despite the relatively good times we've had since they became adults. I do also though lol at miscers acting like there aren't very big problems with the corporate world and that there aren't legitimately reasons why people are feeling the way they are.

One in five Gen Z adults identify as LGBTQ — and that number is only expected to go up, according to a Gallup poll released Thursday.
https://www.axios.com/2022/02/17/lgb...ation-z-gallup
More than two in five of the country’s 68 million Gen Zers have a clinically-diagnosed mental health condition. Nine in 10 Gen Z adults diagnosed with mental health issues say they struggle specifically with anxiety. Moreover, eight in 10 say they fight against frequent bouts of depression.
https://studyfinds.org/gen-z-mental-health-condition/
Researchers are sounding the alarm: Many guys in their 20s and 30s are historically weak, which could have a disastrous impact on health and life spans. But it’s not too late to change.

Truly the most pathetic generation to ever exist.......
And it's only going to get worse.

The reason why you're LARPing is the fact that you make wide links between 'high earners' and 'thousands of posts on the Misc', so the weirdo here is: you, the lurker who felt triggered enough by the OP (and my posts in general) to reply the way you did.
Now that I have dressed you down sufficiently, NYC checking in. You're quoting junior folks. The only hedge fund guys I know who 'have no time' are the junior ones working 90+ hours a week. Know how I know? Because I was invited to a party in the Hamptons recently (a quick example) on a Saturday and this reasonably junior guy was sleeping while his wife entertained the guests. All of the very successful senior people I know (a lot) generally only gripe about one thing: see the OP, which you somehow agree with but instead spent the majority of your post trying to attack yours truly.
And you got bodied. Age: 33, I'm 43, learn your place.

All the posters crying about Gen Z...those are the ones that are going to be pushing your diaper wearing ass into a ditch to die alone while they take what little possessions you have left. But hey, at least you didn't bitch about working overtime.

I don't blame the kids today for finding short cuts. Actually that's not true, many of them are perfectly willing to work hard but not in traditional fields; they will happily go without proper food or rest for days just to get that perfect viral video ir Tik Tok dance or some internet notoriety.

No more incentives to work hard and not only economically btw. Also internet made it more clear than ever how rigged the game is and how fooked the younger generations are.

Parents failed them. You can't expect kids to just "get it" when their entire social media and school system based upbringing tells them the exact opposite of the parents. The parents don't instill anything into these kids because they're too busy working to raise them. That has a HUGE detrimental affect on kids because they will then be raised by other systems or people that are opposite of your own values. That's why kids hate their parents. They teach them nothing, nag at them when they don't act like the way they want them to act, and then their life is curated by outside forces.True, but that's not a great justification for the rest of your post. "Purpose" changes, e.g., because we're not the product of WWII. Most of us were born in 'bounty', with parents who were raised rather strictly. And yet Zoomers I have met tell me 'we need to learn why saving money is important in school'. Where were your parents, folks?
So that brings us to the purpose debate. The parents failed these kids, the school systems didn't teach them, social media warped their minds, and the value of the dollar is getting destroyed making all assets, food prices, and more seemingly unattainable. Then you mix in the pressure of parents that weren't there for them and these kids melt like snowflakes under pressure. Their parents want them to go to college that costs 30k a year now with 8% interest rates. The kids that graduated have a mountain of debt, low paying first time jobs, car payments, parents ripping on them for being pathetic staying at home, and everything school and the parents told them life would be was a lie.
Right? So why. Why go the traditional path when it is setting them up for complete failure and financial disaster? The corporate world is a hell hole, the two opposing life paths are tradie work and starting your own business. No one taught these kids either of those things so you think they are going to go that route? Globalism has destroyed wage potential and these kids see that the jig is up. They'd rather live a simple life without the hassle of debt, corporate boomers and gen x'ers disrespecting them, and being set up for failure. I'm just explaining why these kids as a demographic are all gay, retards, and genuinely lazy fukks. The irony is....you cannot blame them lol. The parents failed an entire generation of kids and now have to deal with the consequences.
Any gen z and younger that has good parents that teach them about life, instill good morals values and principles, and keep them away from the governmental institutions propaganda, will be the genuine winners of society within their age group. That's not a lot of them.

They knew there's a short cut to unlimited income in SM or OF and lost motivation for traditional 9 to 5.

The report, which surveyed over 1,000 Americans ages 16 to 25, found that Gen Z values flexible, creative jobs and careers where they can maintain a healthy work-life balance.

The report, which surveyed over 1,000 Americans ages 16 to 25, found that Gen Z values flexible, creative jobs and careers where they can maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Right?Yes purpose changes, but it also takes time. We are making broad generalizations of an entire age demographic, right? So our outlook has to be broad. Trust me I have the same initial knee jerk reaction to just say "These gen z fukks are just pathetic and completely useless." A lot of them are. That's when you have to say...well why? Parents failed them. You can't expect kids to just "get it" when their entire social media and school system based upbringing tells them the exact opposite of the parents. The parents don't instill anything into these kids because they're too busy working to raise them. That has a HUGE detrimental affect on kids because they will then be raised by other systems or people that are opposite of your own values. That's why kids hate their parents. They teach them nothing, nag at them when they don't act like the way they want them to act, and then their life is curated by outside forces.

But we also look at personal responsibility on top of that. How many times have we said here some teen should be tried as an adult? The tragic part of life is that there's no real "doing it over", which is why one of the best pieces of advice a parent can give is "get a good education" - where "good education" doesn't mean taking out a massive student loan for an art history degree from NYU then having a breakdown because the first job isn't really going to pay off that loan. A 'good education' is meant to develop resilience in a person, and it is this resilience that seems to be fundamentally lacking from many a Gen Z as we see in this thread when folks claim "Yeah it's impossible to get to the top 1% so it's all a lie, LDAR" - there's such a lack of logic here.
It's the media that sells the lie that Gen Z bought hook, line and sinker. These folks worshipping Tate's taint thinking they need a few Bugattis to be a 'Top G', and they wouldn't even know how to chop wood for winter heating. Is that all the parents' fault? Nope, but it is theirs, for not teaching their kids to disconnect themselves from media interest groups that are designed to weaken the brain of the average person, make them buy into this 'consoomerism', and exacerbate that by causing these kids to feel like they are failures unless they are a 'Top G'.
It isn't 'all Gen Z', but there is an issue of work ethic for sure. It'll get worse with folks having AI write their motivation letters, essays - critical thinking and ability to express oneself heading into the chitter too.

Unless you are truly highly specialized (10% of workforce), you are way more expendable than you think and should do as little as possible and take as much as you can. Your employer's job is to exploit you to do as much as possible for the least pay, and your job is to get paid as much as you can to do the bare minimum.
If you don't live by these rules, then you are probably a CUCK! The only other exception is if you work for yourself, obviously.
