Hell even a simple exhaust install starting from the headers to the mufflers is probably an hour job but could charge $300-400 for it.
a lot of these people would be dead essentially immediately if something went wrong with society. they have literally no practical skills.

Wife and in-laws think I’m a magician due to the fact that I can make very basic repairs and simple improvements. That in all honesty, every man, should be able to do.

Tradies must feel bad getting mogged by their wagecell relatives on Thanksgiving.

Tomorrow is Monday and winter is here tradies. Enjoy your backbreaking jobs in the cold where you could literally maim yourself at any time. I'll wake up in my warm house and wander over to my WFH desk and put in 8 hours of work using my mind while listening to Spotify and not even coming close to maiming myself.

Oh, and I'll be making $100+ an hour + bonus while doing so.

Make sure to dress warm tradies and don't forget those steel toed boots. Hope the porta potties were emptied over the weekend.

This.

You have to consider their self-employed freedom as well.

If a tradie has some major job he conned a soccer mom into paying him $190/hr.... He can take the rest of the week off after that lol. Kind of the point of the South Park episode. Wagies gotta keep clocking their time for a 2% annual raise regardless of output.

good point. making your own schedule is invaluable. There's no 9:05 boss is wondering why you aren't logged on running his TPS reports.

I think freedom in the workplace is important. I had a WFH job (as a tradie get that) but after 2mo I said fuk it. I was chained to a desk basically. Had to be logged in, phones open, zoom open at 8am and then a scheduled lunch, then finally log off at 5pm. If you needed to pee or something I had to put it in the zoom chat. Salesforce, the supervisors can see everything you're doing. Officecells in denial saying it's not like that and maybe some places it is, but most places they are watching, especially remote people.

Where I work, it's pretty laid back, as long as things are getting done. I've thought about going into business for myself, or as some kind of partnership but I don't know, pro's and con's to that too. Also, funny when people talk about being self employed as though they can do what they want because, yes they can, but being successful they probably won't. Owning a business, you learn it goes full circle. Now your customer is your boss because now they are writing your paycheck.

it's true you still answer to the customer, but you can always turn down the job, there's infinite demand. Plus you get to choose the window work is confined to
