If you're going in expecting a ton of mafia hits and shoot outs in the streets, it's never going to come.
What makes me think your attention span might be shot is you saying Better Call Saul moved at a "snails pace" (no offense meant, this has happened to almost everyone these days). To me, Better Call Saul was just a good, well-paced show. It was slower paced than Breaking Bad, but that doesn't mean it was dragging at a snails pace. People are just too used to the type of shows that are created for binge watching, with constant action, drama, plot twists, graphic sex, etc.
There was a thread on here a little while back with a bunch of people saying how The Godfather is an extremely overrated and boring movie. It came out decades before the Sopranos of course, but this is another good example of how people today just don't have the attention spans to appreciate a story like The Godfather. There's not that much violence, action, or sex in The Godfather movies. No real plot twists either. It's just a great story.
Anyway, back to The Sopranos. While I really enjoyed the first season, it's probably the weakest. In the first half of the season it seems like the show is trying to decide whether it's trying to be a TV Goodfellas spin-off, or it's own thing. There's definitely a lot of cheesy/cringe writing in the first few episodes. The last few episodes of season 1 are very good and the show really starts to stand out in season 2. My personal favorite season is season 3.
Anyway, $4 a pound.

Op, I've also thought about rewatching Battlestar Galactica.
