Im glad theres such a high skill ceiling or everyone would pollute the world with their chit music as if rap wasnt bad enough. Nothing worse than being at a patio bar and then the musicf4gs show up and kill the night for everyone with their live music. The washed out drunk boomers eat it up.

not who you quoted, but imo its because as you improve you become hyper-aware and critical of more things you didn't notice before. the more you know the more you realize you don't know. it's a moving target. even after you're good enough to easily impress the average person, you obsess over all kinds of details that only seasoned musicians will notice.

it's like top tier bodybuilders obsessing over the shape of a delt insertion and being all self conscious of it when to 99% of the world, they just see a freakishly jacked guy

When playing bar chords just play the top (4) strings, you don't need to play all (6) strings just because they are there.
Those bassier frequencies are best reserved for the bass guitar anyway.

Or, you could incorporate a capo with your playing as an occasional alternative.
Capos aren't for me, their just in the way of my playing.

Learn the CAGED system. You can play any major chord in any of the caged shapes, it works for some minors as well. Also some people use their middle finger to press on their pointer to help with fatigue. Try adjusting your hand position as well.

I appreciate the replies, fellas, especially in this silly thread lol.

I "know" that the write originally played it with these barre chords, and I didn't want to sub chords (I'm already confident in my open/smaller chords, and I'm trying to learn new stuff), so I went back and took a look at how he plays, and I apparently mixed up some chords.

I thought he always played gm/fm off the 10th/9th frets on the fifth string, but he apparently switches between those two positions and the 2nd/3rd fret sixth string, and that actually seems to make a good deal of difference for me - all the fifth string chords just really fatigue my hand over 5 minutes.

Still definitely have to build up my endurance, but this at least seems like something I can build on now. Will try messing around with my hand positioning, too. I don't think I can go full thumb-over for most stuff, but rotating my palm towards the neck seems to helpful. Will have to work on not muting the first string though.

True.

I have a friend who's no looker, mid 20's and bald, white guy, not in shape etc.

He's been pulling some HOT broads, especially ever since he started hosting music nights around the area.

Like way out of his league, like he's a 6 and she's a 9.

He's a total BADASS on the guitar though, got a BS degree for it in college, practices a MINIMUM of four hours a day, every single day, etc. etc.

Not like the guy's rich or anything, just that playing the guitar put him in a bit of a position of "prominence" (which is really what broads are after anyway).
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.
