Really cool little thing to have and only $9

Interesting little invention and inexpensive tool anyone can own. Especially for parts of the world where it’s harder to access clean drinking water.

You can imagine a boil water notice happening at home, and instead of getting out a big pot to boil the contaminants and waiting a long ass time for it to cool. Bust out your straw and drink any time safely. Definitely a great cheap investment for anyone to own. You may never have to bust it out of its plastic wrapper, but it’s always a great thing to have for peace of mind.

Here in California the absolute coldest it will get is the low 50's to upper 40s (near the coast) Although it can get below freezing the further inland you go. Regardless, the weather is still pretty mild year round.

My bag is very similar, plus an entrenching tool and a few mags.
Separate duffel with ammo.
My truck is a 7200w generator with a 31gal tank, so that helps.

Why would I?

What us really going to happen.

I live in san diego so maybe an earthquake. Even the worst one wont flatten every home so might as well stay put.

I have nothing prepared and plan on simply eating my neighbors food and pets should the need arise.

Yes, mostly in case of fire evac more than anything.

Gun and ammo
Emergency food (I have a year supply, mostly in case of natural disaster)
Full med kit (don't sleep on the importance of one)
Various survival tools like knife, hatchet, pliers, fishing equipment, sht like that.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.

5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

Found this good deal to have at home. 4 collapsable battery powered lanterns. Good to have on hand when you already have a good amount of batteries.

Put a bag together for my wife for when she travels. Threw one of these thermal blankets in there. Also, first aid kit, flash light and an electric tire pump

Nah. Where we live is where most people would bug out to. If chit hits the fan all miscers are welcome on my farm. We can basically live here indefinitely without outside help. Have a well and solar, would just want to still a hand pump for the well then we’d be set

I know you have a ferro rod, but why not also have a lighter? I'd carry a waterproof torch lighter and a bic lighter just in case.

waterproof torch lighter similar to this:

You are missing the top 3 items:

Bullets
Band aids
Beans

To your list I'd add antibiotics. Whenever I'm prescribed any that I don't really need, I save them up. You often don't have to do a full course for a mild uti, for example.
