I'm all for ICE vehicles, but I'm optimistic of the EV's future. Definitely not on a Democrat's level, but still worth investing in. I think if they survive the next year or two, they might have good potential.
It's tempting to throw even $10k in there, would become $260k if they make it and return to the high

That would be around $9billion valuation while Ford is worth $44billion, GM worth $48billion, Toyota worth $329billion

Hmmmmm

I think cheap Chinese electric cars that you can buy at pep boys are going to take over the market.

I doubt Chinese cars will ever be a big part of our markets here but who knows, except the garbage Tesla ships in from Shanghai

I'll take a South Korean or Japanese car over that any day

I'm think they will make street legal golf carts that sell for $500 or something. Super basic transportation. Chinese batteries are going to be super cheap.

They'll be at a big disadvantage though with the Inflation Reduction Act $7500 tax subsidy that excludes battery components and minerals from China

A US company could sell an $8k golf cart that would be the same end price as the thing from China after the subsidy

Assuming that legislation survives if Trump is elected, lots of question marks there

I'm way too chickenchit to do that, but i might allocate $50 bucks a month into the stock or something. I'm "only" 37, but I've been taking a boomerish approach to my investments over the past 2 years. I was quite lucky to have made what I did from 2020, but far more conservative now. I'm about 88% into the s&p500, and the rest is Verizon, Microsoft and Walmart (for a communications, tech and retail approach). I've been looking more into EV stocks lately, and this thread kind of made me act on it. As impulsive as that may sound, lmao. I plan to hold and invest for the next 2-5 years, unless it blows up and I decide to cash out, or goes bankrupt.

Fiskers seems to be burning far too much cash.

They had -$350 million in revenue and had $600 million left at the end of Q3.

They produced 10K cars and delivered 4K in 2023.

Scaling and profitability will be a heck of a challenge for them.
Your schtick sucks and it screams insecurity.

I'll be throwing another $50 into Fisker today, I might also throw $50 into Lucid for the hell of it. They experienced huge gains out of nowhere.

Edit- 70/30 ratio of Fisker/Lucid. Webull wouldn't let me put only $50 in, I had to buy 100 shares to make the purchase.

Fisker could be a decent short term play with money you are comfortable with losing entirely. Definitely a gamble stock where with such low prices you could 2-3x your investment, but you could also lose half of it in weeks too.
Yeah Buddyyy! Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

I agree. I threw $500 in it a while back to get in quick, and then I'll probably buy 100 shares per month. I talked a big game about holding on to it for 2-5 years, but honestly if it takes off quick I'll probably sell it at 4x and just put it into VOO lol.

This. Pretty much everyone that actually WANTS and EV already has one. The only real market going forward is forcing people to buy one.
