One thing I did which got a lot of attention was charging for time during interview processing.

A lot of people didn't like it

Most didn't.

But...it made me stand out.

Bill them for your time, send them an invoice to their billing depth. Srsly

I'm a black male living in California and I've been ghosted all the same, and from numerous races too. Even other black members of a team.

The minute you aren't in consideration, they vanish in the blink of an eye. I can understand HR teams not messaging everyone that applied, but to not message an interviewer who has done multiple rounds is a disgrace. It's a very difficult job market at the moment. Tech, real estate, and finance have gotten slaughtered. The good news is that demographics are on our side. Once we come out of this downturn/slowdown, there's going to be a hiring boom imo and not enough people to fill these jobs with so many boomers retired.

This is why I lol at the idea of loyalty to a company. They won't hesitate to F you over any time it is convenient for them to do so. My advice to folks is to act accordingly.

If it hasn't been said before...there are so many applicants it's a waste of time to contact to say no job unless it's built into your recruiting software.

No reason for you to not get the automated no job email when moved to rejected.

Yeah, but by the time someone has gone through 5 rounds of interviews, it should have been pretty serious consideration by the company for a pretty good job, and that person out to be in the final 3 candidates at worst after that many interviews. So if they are in the final few candidates that didn't make the cut for such an extensive interviewing process, the company could give them the courtesy of letting them know they can stop wasting their time hoping they'll get the job. I can understand them not getting back to people after one or two rounds of interviewing, at which point they likely cover it by saying "You'll here from us by xzy, if you get the job". Leaving someone hanging by ghosting them after 5 interviews is a pretty shiiitty thing to do.
