Yep op I discovered them when the university remade the student center gym with all new equipment. I first tried the one with the pad and tried all 3 grip positions and was hooked.
Then in adulthood i found the basic one with no pad and had to perfect form and technique. If you grip it loosely and let it stretch your lats on the downward movement, it really hurts so good.

Glad we are discussing lifting.

At home, in public, I don't care. Squat with my ass out. Drop a bag of oatmeal at the store and need to pick it up? Ass to grass squat.
this you?

I did them for a short while when I used to train in the gym. Never really enjoyed them. Standard barbell rows were always my favorite though.

I really like chest supported. If its unsupported feels awkward to me with heavy weight. Prefer BB rows.

Actually the nerds/phds/scientific community are discovering the 'stretched' portion of a lift is the most effective portion. To the point where if you ONLY do half reps in the stretched portion you can make literally the same amount of gains.

So for a movement like a row. The stretched portion is the bottom of the lift. Getting your elbows behind you is irrelevant. If you are doing a pull up. Just hanging at the bottom and doing a 'half' rep up is likely superior to bringing your chin to the bar/over the bar. As long as you go until failure/with proper intensity.

For a movement like a bench-press. The Stretched portion is the bottom portion. No need to go all the way up/lock out your elbows.

For a movement like the curl. You can literally just curl the weight half-way/ until your forearms are parallel to the floor.

So basically they are discovering you can literally use more weight and just do half reps and make superior gains to nerds that are using lighter weight and the 'full' range of motion. Funnily enough is BBers have known this for years. Just look at them train. Many of them used half reps/in the stretched portion the lift.

If you must use 'full' reps. Your better off half repping as much as possible at the end of your set/when you can no longer do full reps. (Sam Sulek does this a lot).

My insane cure/solution is do it again with a few lightweight sets, it works every time.
