Trump is a very polarizing figure (probably the most polarizing in politics).. People either love him or they hate him. I have hard time believing people who are not going to vote for him would look at his VP pick and all of a sudden change their mind.

Several ways to look at this that have been brought up itt already but one thing that is more important this time than any other is that the VP for Trump really needs to be ready between day 1 and 4 years due to the likelihood that Trump could be assassinated at any time. There is so much hate and mental illness on the far left that an attempt on his life wouldn't surprise me the least. So whoever it is, better make sure they are sold on MAGA policies and that they are ready at the sound of a gunshot to take over...

Well, I can't be sure of course. Trump is certainly very polarising. But in elections, you typically have a lot of people who will always vote for Party A, and a lot of people who will always vote for Party B. It's often the swing voters, undecideds etc that you have to attract to win the election.

Whilst I may be wrong, I simply don't see any actual advantage in Trump picking someone like Ramaswamy or Carlson. I don't think it will win him extra voters. Sure, most people will love/hate Trump regardless of who he picks. But I do suspect picking a more "moderate" candidate might help him with certain groups of people. In close elections with fine margins, I think that could potentially make a difference.

I read she was part of the short list....but who knows?

I only head of her after she replaced Cheney and she was so pro Trump that I had to look her up, and of course her voting record was anything but MAGA.

She voted with Trump less than 80% of the time while Cheney was over 90%....but she bent over and kissed the ring.
