Spot on. Its simply bad social etiquette. The host should want to make their guest feel comfortable and welcomed into their home. If the kids are being annoying, they're yelled at and sent outside or up to their room. With dogs though, the owner is usually indifferent to their behavior around guests. They seem to believe that their guests love the attention in the same way they do. Which often isn't the case.

Family gathering is different than a guest coming over. At a family gathering kids sit together because it's more fun for them.

If a guest comes over, my kid is absolutely sitting at the table with everyone. So no, kids are not pushed to the side when adults come over, unless their parents are cun*s.


Poorly trained dogs, and poorly raised kids are always going to be a PITA. It's not because they are dogs, or kids. But at the end of the day if you don't like dogs or kids, and are invited to a house that has either, don't fuking go. To go and expect them to be put somewhere else for your peace of mind is entitled af.

Its better to have the dog locked up in a room initially then you can chime in and say;"hey, I thought you had a dog?"(signifying that you want to see it). THEN they can bring them out.

Regardless I think its groce to have a dog in the house, period. Its not "torture" for the dog to stay outside on the back patio. My Jack Russel lived for 12 years only stepping foot twice in the kitchen and he was immediately scolded for it, and even that little back patio area with the astroturf where he slept still kinda smells like him and he's been gone for almost 10 years.

When they're in the house they jump on furniture, rub and place their dick/pussy/balls/assshole on everything. They'll run outside to take a chit then run back into the house with dirty paws and plop their recently evacuated butthole onto the throw-pillows on the couch that you will then lay your head on when the dog goes somewhere else. They shed, they slobber and no matter how much you dust and vacuum and clean after them your house will ALWAYS smell like "the dog." You won't smell it because you live in the stench, but visitors most certainly smell it permeating everywhere, and if you have fabric (instead of leather) upholstered furniture, its over.

If you don't like your buddy's dog, don't visit. Properly socialized dogs love people and being around them. They get excited when guests come over and their little canine dopamine spikes through the roof when guests give that dog attention. Happy dogs move around a lot, they wag their tails, and they lick to express themselves. As a dog owner, I'd never lock my excited dog in another room or outside when it just wants to greet you and play with you. Say hi to it, pet it a bit, let it sit in front of you and get scratched a bit, and it'll eventually go back to its own routine. The more you push it away, the worst their behaviour gets.

There are varied levels of discomfort. Your point was that my criticism of intrusive dog behavior implied that I "don't like dogs." This isn't true, some may draw the line at biting or scratching, but I draw it at a much less severe point. I don't like taking an intentional dog paw to the ballsack. You think its cute. I don't. Most folks simply don't want to have a dog all over them when they take the time to show up for an invitation. That's the line typically drawn. If your dog jumped all over a stranger in the park, even in a completely friendly manner, you think they'd be okay with that? You find that to be acceptable?

Would you be fine having dinner with LinuxJon if all seventy-two of his cats were in heat? Rubbing up against you the entire time?

I have a dog that does bite so I keep him away from people. Both dogs go in the back room when I have people over. I don't need the headache.

I get annoyed if anyone wants to pet my dogs when I'm walking them. It's not a petting zoo I'm running.

Most of the dog people you see are at work all day while their dog sits in a cage all day then gets to roam around their chitty little apartment for a few hours when they get home from wage slaving before being caged up again at night

It's sad because the dog still shows love so they see no problem with it.
